I don't recall Nissa's combat abilities that well so if I'm wrong on that count I have no problem admitting it. In her fight with Vorinclex I read it as him toying with her more than anything. As for Nahiri, I thought the others said she died in the cave in or sacrificed herself, but you're right in that she could have survived it.

I'm really glad to see planes fighting back and effectively stalling the Phyrexians. It would have made me so bummed if everywhere was just getting rolled without putting up much, if any, of a fight.

The Eldraine story was hilarious, but I'm sensing a pattern. We don't see Etali get claimed, we don't see Ayara get compleated. Bit disappointing.

Ah, Gisa and Geralf, never change

That was a legitimate concern of mine while browsing the story.

So far most of the stories make the Phyrexians seem...not exactly weak, but really bland if that makes sense?

Most side stories so far have been: 'Oh no! An insurmountable amount of monsters! What do we do?'

-> gimmicky happening: bye Phyrexians! We win!

The main stories also feel quite incoherent so far when taken together which, in combination with all the side stories being on different planes and the irregular mix of main- and side stories we get each day, makes it all feel like an ecclectic bunch. I still don't really feel or care much; at least not like the Brothers' War side story gut punches.

I have to say though love the Gisa and Geralf story and am happy they survive. I also really like the Strixhaven students quite a lot and love that Quint will be a planeswalker. Finally, i can't WAIT for the Borborygmos/Fblthp story!

The Strixhaven one mostly bothered me because it leaned so heavily into the magical school trope of the faculty being essentially useless or a detriment and the students being the real heroes.
I mean, the ENTIRE faculty got off-screen infected other than Liliana. That just... didn't settle with me.
Kasmina didn't even make an appearance either. It all felt so... perfunctory and cliche.

I've actually really enjoyed the Elspeth stories here even if they feel very out of left field for Serra to intervene. For me, I've been noticing this pattern for a while and I found it interesting: the Phyrexians keep criticzing others for their lack of unity all while ignoring their own civil war. There's no unity for them either but literally no one points out the hypocrisy. The walkers, despite being compleated by other people, seem to have a better sense of unity around what it means to be for Phyrexia but the rest of the actual Phyrexiams have no consensus.

Also, where are Jace and Vraska? I feel like Jace could just reduce Elspeth's mind to mush if he popped off and once she's compleated she'd make an excellent Atraxa 2.0.

Ooooh I have a nasty suspicion they're going to make Jace the new leader of the Phyrexians as he's the only one who can handle the hive mind and control it. It would also be a convenient way to get him out of the story so they don't have to keep writing around his powers.

To be fair it's only two rebel factions; Norn has secured the dominant three and most of the Thanes. The rebellion also didn't amount to anything, with both praetors dead.

Vraska seems to have died, but they haven't found the body...

Also, nice that Ral rediscovered the method Urza and Xantcha used to kill phyrexians

Another casualty: Wrenn dies to bring Zhalfir home. Gut wrenching.

And thus Zhalfir is it's own plane. Good, since Magic wanted a West African specific plane
