Or they could base a future Conspiracy set on Homelands and let the players re-enact the conflict and intrigue that were going on there with better cards (they wouldn't even need to resolve the cliffhanger of the original story if they didn't want to), but of course that's not happening because life is cold and dark...

What could be... Potent mythic versions of Autumn Willow and Baron Sengir, maybe Eron and Reveka too. PWs of Ravi, Serra, and/or Feroz depending on the time period coverage. A multiplayer kingmaker mechanic like voting/monarch that flavorfully represents control of Ulgrotha's mana flow. Maybe based on having the highest devotion to as many colors as possible?

Something like that is exactly what I have in mind. If there's one existing story and setting that perfectly lends itself to a Conspiracy set, it's the Homelands.

I mean, we'll probably see a Conspiracy 3, but it'll probably have more to do with Trest and it's :u::g: elves being (if Leovold and Edric are anything to go by) manipulative jerks, maybe more of Grenzo and Daretti's destabilization of the political landscape, all that sort of Fiora stuff. If we're lucky we'll see something like Conspiracy: Crownfall where Marchessa's increasingly myopic stranglehold on power is creating enemies on all sides. Queen Marchessa really feels like Act 2 of a 3-act structure.

Now Conspiracy 4...

Guay or Zug would be perfect for Serra. I don't care which -- Zug perfectly captured the artistic style of Serra's Sanctum in his work in Urza's block, while Guay has already formed the image of the character with her work on the Homelands comic.

Guay for Serra for me, no question. As to the issue of her style, it wouldn't be THAT different than Kiora. Therese did the duel decks too, so there's more to that stack too.

Mark Zug seems like a fitting choice for Serra, but I could also see Rebecca Guay doing it, especially if we also got Feroz along with her. Sure, her style is unlike anything we've seen on a 'walker card, but she has illustrated Serra a couple of times on cards, she did the Homelands comic and it would go with her From the Vault Serra Angel. It really comes down to which direction you want the style to go in and which phase of Serra's life you want to evoke. I think Donato Giancola would also work really well for Serra.

As much as Guay Serra would be ah-mah-zing, at first I don't think her style will still be in accordance to the seemingly "art style" MTG is going with now, hence I checked for Mark Zug because he still got some much recent MTG arts in the main sets. (I was able to get ahold of Guay's IG, and her style seems to have evolved in a way that I can see it in a main set release...)

HOLY SHART, DONATO GIANCOLA! YAS! Him too would be super nice! :D

Hold on... I do not know if this was serious and stuff, but was there a sufficient enough description of Manatarqua? Unless... wait a minute, are you referring to her Pavilion form? :V

Holy! I almost forgot Guay did Soratami cards! Talk about having that snobby-aura checked~! (It would be lovely if she gets to illustrate her family too...)

And you guys are accessing my feels with CONSPIRACY: HOMELANDS and COMMANDER: THE NINE TITANS...

Taysir, Kristina and Daria in one deck (yeah, right)... Oh, one can dream! Have they made Commander decks top down? It seems like they make Commander decks mostly bottom - up. (Am I getting these terms right?)

They did just have Guay do a full set of basics for Commander. It gives me hope.

Commander was certainly heavily bottom-up this year but they were working with the 4-color identities, which are messes from a flavor PoV. It's been more top-down in the past, particularly PW-year that got us such hits as Freyalise, Teferi, and Feldon.

Based on the reported comments from her representative, it sounds like these lands were actually painted some years ago, and just weren't used in a product until now.

Don't think we have the full story on how or why, but I don't think these were commissioned for this set.

Why else would I choose John "the land guy" Avon?
