on a serious note (and maybe this doesn't belong in the art, flavor and storylines subforum): i'd love to take bets right now on:

1. a desert reprint
2. re-use of the creature type sand
3. something something ankh of mishra

I would love to get Sand creatures in this set. Hazezon Tamar remains one of my favorite cards from Legends.

Honestly, its the fashions and architecture that resonated with me immediately for this set, being Egyptian inspired... I think I shot my own foot putting melanin in front...

And I am just genuinely extremely happy to see POCs in fantasies I follow (second would be LGBTQ people, but the hope about them, much less) in a Magic set and not just drip drops of them scattered around the arts like back in the days, I may not be as excited as with Tarkir (maybe because the POCs of that set are majorly the fair skinned(?) folks, and I am more in the brown spectrum) coming off Kaladesh I was not expecting another set with a huge presence of POC this early... Am I fetishizing with this? If so, I am genuinely sorry and would like to be educated if ever....


I just love cultures with extremely detailed fashions and architecture: Chinese, Egyptian, Japanese, some regions in the S.E.A. etc. So there...

So while we consider possible reprints, do you think we might see mindclaw shaman or Augur of Bolas?

That would be amazing if ever... though it can be that they sort of put one thing and another thing together and just happened that Nicol Bolas would fit an Egyptian set seeing his design or what not.


Maybe other races that are in Amonkhet, but the merfolk one is suspect... Unless, they end up being the Blue race representative in the set.

More viashino would be fantastic. Maybe as visual references to Set the crocodile god.

I expect Leonin, hound people, (Hopefuly not scarab people because I had an egyptian idea with those) humans, possibly a tribe normally in one color, in another color as they adept to a desert envirnoment. As a desert world I expect them to do something interesting with blue races. didn't bolad breed cat dragons on that one world? So maybe we see some other sort of dragony people.

The nekoru weren't Bolas's. They actually usurped him in Madara, but even there they were an invasive species.
