I'm disappointed that most Emrakul related cards are connected to and , even the religious ones, but I like that they sneaked in this:

You know the scene I'm talking about.

Favorite art of the set.

Boys and ghouls of every age, wouldn't you to see something strange...

Seriously, that has Tim Button written all over it.
In a good way.

That's like the most generic Hot Topic Tim Burton ripoff I've ever seen. I say this in the most loving way possible but y'alls need some taste.

...come with us and you will see, this our town of Gavony.

Well, yeah, it's cheap, but I'm happy about every creature that doesn't have Elrazi bits sticking out of it, so that's a plus. How does everyone else feel about that actually? Do you think they changed the look and feel of Innistrad too much in EDM with all the tentacles and Eldrazi mutants or are you okay with it? Personally, I'm not really a fan. I never liked the Eldrazi very much, and I just can't see them anymore after BFZ block. I'd rather just see the things that make Innistrad Innistrad without having to look at weird Eldrazi body horror. I think it would help me a lot if they didn't have creature type Eldrazi and weren't colourless, but there we go. They keep spoiling a fair share of 'normal' Innistrad cards along with the eldrazified ones, though, so the balance may or may not be okay in the end.

I liked the original eldrzi though I liked big creatures with annihilator on them so that might be it more. Still I think I remember liking the art a bit back then when they were new. To me I don't like that they messed up Innistrad with this. I felt they could of told more stories about the things that were already there and possibly hidden or old. From my understanding they eluded to a lot they left untold. While the draft format of Innistrad frustrated me as I was not good at it while it seemed everyone else was, I did like the art and the setting a lot.

Just feels like they took my meat lovers pizza and a chocolate cake and threw them in a blender and thought I would like the results of things I liked individually.

I liked how they used transform, fusion, and emerge to mechanically differentiate Emrakul's brood from Ulamog's and Kozilek's. It helped alleviate the feeling that the story was "and then everyone on the plane - even the bad guys - got together through the power of friendship to fight the eldrazi AGAIN."

Personally, I feel this setting redeemed the Eldrazi. Previously they wer eboring Cthulhu monsters, but with Emrakul we see a true body horror/infection trope. Phyrexia is similar, but too focused on machinery, and has its own loading of sci-fi tropes.

My overall feelings on the block are mixed. AVR did feel like a complete story and the perfect happy ending, but I think the lovecraftian horror and corruption horror were really, really well done. My only complaint is the involvement of the Jacetice League and Tamiyo playing second fiddle to Jace.

Honestly I would label this block as a success. I think Emrakul's drowned god/eldritch horror aesthetic fits well into innistrad. I mean, sure, I have a few problems with the set, mainly revolving around the jacestice league, but overall I liked it. I think Tamiyo got a fair share of time in the moon light. If you look at all the cards in both sets, I feel like cards featuring each would balance out, and the fact that she was the cool, collected one in the set helped.

That chocking card reminded me: Where's earthbind guy been? I miss him

I honestly hope to see what happens when a member of the Gatewatch goes and tries to get help from the others fighting a threat that doesn't consume an entire plane.

I can see Gideon going to Nissa and Chandra all like "hey, can you help me and the Boros Legion clean up the streets of Ravnica? This goblin mob is getting out of hand"

I think overall the set is fine. I'm bummed that it was Emrakul, and not something native to Innistrad, but it was handled well. I really just wish they hadn't gotten rid of all 3 titans already, and left one for Bolas to corrupt. I remember one art from Oath having an Eldrazi with a very Bolas-esque headpiece, and I think it would have been neat for Bolas to capture Kozilek himself, and get some reality warping powers from it. Then the Jacetice League can team up, lose, and then go to Ugin for help, and they recruit one or two other 'walkers in a giant 1 v 7 battle and they end up having to RELEASE kozliek back into the wild just so they can stop Bolas.

That would have made for a good read.

I didn't mind Emrakul, I'm bummed that my horror cults didn't happen, but it does look like we'll have the Eldrazi horrors left over as a kind of fringe cult. On the whole, I've liked it better than Zendikar 2.0

I think that, like the Roil on Zendikar, Innistrad will feel the effects of Eldrazi imprisonment, but this time it'll be seeping influence of Emrakul creating horrors.

Zendikar is much richer in mana, which explains the more obvious anti-Eldrazi immune system. Its also supposed to be closer to mana, so more sympathetic in its search for freedom.

Innistrad, however, is closer to mana, and the whole theme of Eldritch Moon is to embrace "the darkness", so most likely the plane accepts Emrakul with open arms because, like it, it is evil.

I have no idea what you are referencing.

I think that Emrakul horrors will become the norm on Innistrad, sadly.

Ye gods, I hope not. But the Eldrazi spawn on Zendikar withered and died after a while when the titans were imprisoned/killed both times, so I expect the Emrakul horrors on Innistrad to meet the same end. Maybe they might stick around as small cult of people who pray to Emrakul really hard to become one with her and get mutated. But then again I don't see any of the EDM stuff happening mechanically when/if we see Innistrad again.
