I just wrote this poem based on the random plane generator Arcades Sabboth made, which you can find here: Random Plane Generator

Keen observers of my work, or anyone who chooses to read the title of this one, might surmise that this is a sort of sequel to my poem Planechase. I should note that while both the genesis of these poems and their thematic structure are the same, the poems do not really have anything to do with one another. Anyway, enjoy!

It's been quite a while, so I thought it was a good time for a new poem! Today's random card is: Kormus Bell!

Enjoy!

I felt like doing something silly, so here's a rewritten version of Bauhaus' Bela Lugosi's Dead that features Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord! I'm a bit late for Halloween, but I hope you find it enjoyable anyway...

For those unfamiliar with the song, check it out here:

(They don't start singing until 2:50, though).

New lyrics:

Thanks! Glad you like it!
Maybe we could turn this sort of thing into a new game, as a quasi-successor to the random card game?
Like, someone chooses a song and people try and rewrite the lyrics into something Magic related?

So, it's been quite a while since I've posted anything to this thread, and I figured that St. Valentine's Day was as good a day as any for some poetry. In order to be (somewhat) thematically appropriate, I opted to write a poem about a creature with Soulbond. Strictly speaking, that's not what happened, because instead, I worte about Flowering Lumberknot. Enjoy!

Raven, do you know if there is a name for the action of omitting a word at the end of a line or stanza, such that the expected/implied rhyme does not occur?

To use an example:

Sweet mother, come down and say your prayers
For the fields are rank with summer as if God just left 'em there
Who's that caught in your death-row stare?
All your Midwest sons and daughters 'neath the world's electric [chair]

Where the word "chair" is omitted, violating your expectation based on context and the rhyme scheme.

It may be that this isn't actually "a thing," and I certainly don't remember having learned about it, but you'd know more than I would.

Hey, Orcish! This just came up at work the other day. Apparently, the term is a "Mind Rhyme," occasionally referred to as a "Teasing Rhyme" when the context is "dirty" or in some way inappropriate.

It's been a while, so I figured I wrote a poem for us all.

Enjoy!

Love it! I like how the character finds each item for each color from the earliest to latest ones released in real life. Needs more Golem's Heart. Kidding though. I'm not sure if there's an older artifact version of that to go with it and as a one of it'd mess up the flow I think.

Love it! The first three stanzas are a really cool introduction, and I like the twist in the last stanza, too.

Thanks for reading! Golem's Heart would have been a good addition, particularly as this "Collector" seems to have quite the affinity for artifacts.

Thanks! I was really happy with the end of this one, too! (Not that I was unhappy with the beginning, of course!)

And once again, you not only nailed the card as such, but also exactly my taste in poetry! :ookay:
I didn't even intend to post anything anytime soon, because Magic really annoys me at the moment, but
I just had to say this. :)

How long did it take you to write, if I may ask?

Thank you, Pavor! I'm very pleased that you liked the poem, and very grateful that you took time to comment on it!

This poem took me somewhere between one and two hours. I didn't pay particular attention to when I started it. I also wasn't able to work on it straight through, because of a few short interruptions.

Thanks!

Finally got around to read it.

I think the rhythm is a bit off in the fifth stanza - namely, in regards to the word choices there -, but it's a subjective opinion in my part, and overall it flows very well.

I like it as a whole. A nice poem about a precious location with a macabre preservation system.

Wow, it has really been a long time! That's a pity. Anyway, here's a Halloween poem for everyone to enjoy!
