What do people make of the Liliana with no tattoos who looks really young?

The tattoos only appear when she casts and her looking young is just artistic differences.

In the comics she also got rid of her tattoos. I know its too late for continuity, but it'd be nice if this was consistent with that.

She still had tattoos. They even turned gold.
She blew up Kothophed, and began bleeding profusely, but that didn't mean the tattoos went away.

I'm a little late but Just wanted to say I know the green gods staff is supposed to probably be overstylized Bolas horns but it looks a bit too much like the Avacyn symbol. Not calling a connection just saying it seems like a bad artistic choice.

Daarken has provided a much better res-d version of his art for PW Deck, Gideon and he doesn't look Ally of Zendikar Gideon BAD me thinks.



- A little bit less shadow on his eye sockets wouldn't have made look less creepy? (But then again, Daarken's decision might be affected by the light source he used.)

- I don't know if that art by Izzy is the Main Set art for Gideon's card, although I still have some qualms about that art, its still not as face wrenching as Ally of ZEN-Gideon.

- I'm really liking Gideon's new outfit tho (I sort of expected Liliana to have a new costume in this, not him)... they might have covered his arms, but in return his torso and thighs are visible.
(Still crossing my fingers and toes on his survival post-Amonkhet block tho...)

Daarken's piece isn't really a problem, it's Izzy's. Which is actually really strange since he's a hugely talented artist, so his piece being so butterfaced is... Odd.

So, I think we can expect Gideon, Nissa, and Liliana in set one, with Bolas in the next, but what odds do you think we'll have to see another walker on Bolas's side?

Mm, I must have been mistaken about the aftermath of that battle. From that point onwards she doesn't have tattoos unless in her "avatar state".

Yeah, Gideon's face continues the annoying trend of looking completely different in every single piece of artwork. The only solution to this problem is to kill him off.

There's still very little about the visuals of Amonkhet that makes me happy so far, but I dig the piece of Liliana with the mummies. The pyramids look better in this one, and as depictions of mummies go, these aren't completely terrible. Here's hoping we'll get some grisly art of partially unwrapped mummies that look like the real thing and not like an Iron Maiden CD cover, because most pop culture depictions of mummies are just bad. Dave Kendall does the best job when it comes to making zombies look like real dead people. I'm disappointed Liliana isn't wearing an Egyptian dress, though.

Edit: Would be hilarious if Bolas kept Ramaz around to make him miserable. You know, on the plane that's the exact opposite of Kaldheim. "It's so hot! Everything is terrible! I don't like sand!"

Maybe I'm just being picky but I'm still not a huge fan of the new art piece. He feels sort of disproportionate to me, like his arms are coming out of his body too low. I don't terribly mind Gideon from his Oath art. There's a point in the BFZ trailer (1:25) and I feel like this was used in card art somewhere I can't recall, but I like his face more in that still and in the Oath art than in either of the new ones.

The gods still look amazing though.

I actually think the white one is more Bast than Sekhmet, partly on the face being more feline than leonine, but also, I think Bast is just more white as a protective goddess, but of course, they're interrelated gods, so probably a melding. I think Sobek will be the black one, though I can see it go either way.

This guy drove me crazy as he calls the animals an "alligator", a "crane", and a "dog".

Could go either way, though the bow and arrows makes the Sekhmet connection a bit more obvious. Bast started basically as Sekhmet 0.2 anyways.

I don't think "Sobek" is as Creative is reluctant to stray from pop culture. Also, A) the artwork has a decidely fiery tone and B) we already have the crocodile-dragons being spoiled.

Same here, I've watched several of his lore videos in the past, and that guy just gets too many of his 'facts' wrong for me to take him seriously.

The Anubis look-alike is pretty obviously , and you can even see the mummy bandages around her body when you look closely, so I'll be surprised if she's anything else than the god of the dead. I find it super weird that the crocodile guy must be by process of elimination. Then again, they might be multi-colour in some way, so maybe he'll have a more crocodile-appropriate colour like or in addition to the . Well, probbaly not... I think the gods look kinda boring, and I hope they'll stop doing actual God cards after Amonkhet. We really don't need all top-down planes that are based on ancient cultures to follow the same formula. They did a pretty good job making the gods look artificial, though, I'll give them that.
