The 'abuelo' part also jumped out at me in reading.
The story overall was like fine. It felt like WOE in that the stories feel more like first steps, like the first half of a TV season, than something bigger. Which, again, I think is fine and it fits the brevity of the story now. (Although I don't know about the Sun Empire folks learning how to ride bats so quickly.) Like WOE, it does more to set up incoming conflicts than being conclusive.
I wonder what color(s) Amalia's card will be. I feel like she is going to be monowhite (or even white-black) just to fit her being Dusk Legion, but she very much came off more like white-blue. The ability to just alter terrain like that is wild. It's interesting she's going with Kellan now. (It feels irresponsible to not commit to at least telling the full story in her own words to the Dusk Legion opposing Aclazotz.)
