No, this isn't a thread to complain about digital art or anything like that. Rather, I'd like to open up a chat to help me out and maybe have a fun talk about Magic art that has a clear inspiration from the modern classics.

What I mean, specifically, is that I've long typed with the idea of designing some kind of deck helmed by Dakkon, Shadow Slayer that is built in emulation of the works of Frank Frazetta. I mean, there are obvious inspirations drawn from his infamous Death Dealer character on Dakkon, so this thread would possibly help me if we wanted to just keep talking about that.

But otherwise, post some cards that are clearly inspired by art from famous works!

Now to wait for someone to post Stasis.

I know that he's quite the persona non grata, but Seb McKinnon's Damnation art is obviously inspired by Hieronymus Bosch.

The 'Sketch' arts from The Brothers' War set get their inspiration from the drawings of Da Vinci.

Cathartic Reunion was based on 'Return of the Prodigal Son' by Rembrandt.

Genesis Ultimatum is almost a direct compositional copy of 'Among the Sierra Nevada, California' by Alfred Bierstadt.

Riveteers Ascendancy is a very obvious play on the famous photograph 'Lunch on a Skyscraper'.

Saprazzan Heir is based on 'I am Half Sick of the Shadows Said the Lady of Shalott' by Sidney Harold Meteyard.

Chris Rahn's superb Castaway's Despair is an hommage to Howard Pyle's 'Marooned'.

The most used art for Rampant Growth is based on 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' by Katsushika Hokusai.

Sigarda's Aid bears a striking resemblance to the creation of Adam, a part of the Sistine Chapel fresco by Michelangelo Buonarroti.

There are many, many more.

My favorite from a recent set is Storm the Seedcore which, while not directly inspired by any one painting, owes everything to the great Italian Renaissance masters like 'Calunnia' by Sandro Botticelli or 'The Seven Acts of Mercy' by Caravaggio.

Also: Stasis. :D

Also also: Is it too soon to make a joke about the Mystical Archive version of Crux of Fate? :P

I've always been a fan of the Fair Basilica. The design of the sphere in the artworks is a beatiful display of civilisation that's completely alien.
