This is the first trailer that I couldn't bring myself to even finish watching. You know, I wasn't embarrassed to play Magic as a kid when you'd be made fun of at school for it. But now that Magic actually is for kids, yeah, I'm embarrassed. Then again, the problem of me playing Magic might take care of itself once this pandemic is over and you can't avoid all those Hobbits and Space Marines and god knows what...

This is aweful. I mean, the Kaldheim one was just bad, but this one is in a league all of its own. I really did not take a liking to Strixhaven when the first cards were revealed back in februari, but this for me is the final nail in the coffin. I've never been less interested in a magic set. From a lore point there is truly nothing I like about it. From the shoe-horned enemy elders to the art direction, I find absolutely no joy in this set, which i find saddening. The trailer is horribly unfunny and unfun to me, though i have to admit that I'm in my mid-thirties and this set is probably not meant for me. :)

Edit: how did we get from the War of the Spark and Eldraine trailers, which (regardless of what one thinks of the sets themselves) were both quite good, to this sad thing?

Well, step one was the Ikoria trailer. Step two was Kaldheim.

To be fair I did like the Witherbloom "sketch". Stoner humor never fails.

But the rest, yeah, not going to defend it.

Should I count this as a teaser or a trailer? It's worse than the Kaldheim teaser, but I think it's better than the Kaldheim trailer, which isn't to say that I think that any of them are approaching 'good'.
