2019 has been a poor year to be a Vorthos. If you haven't been paying attention
this is a pretty good summary of events and decisions regarding Magic Story for the past year. With the recent announcement the Theros Beyond would not have an e-book, several Vorthos on reddit (and presumably Twitter but I don't go there) have been lamenting the squandering of goodwill that WotC has built since Magic Origins. Many people have declared Magic Story to be 'dead' or wonder why they should bother when characters and stories get dropped with no fanfare. This got me thinking about past controversies in the community and the general reaction to them. I've been following the story since original Mirrodin but didn't really follow the community until RoE. I know the Mending was poorly received at the time, as was the Vanishing, the Origins retcons, and so on. So I have two questions. What makes this time so different (I have an idea for this one)? What are some older controversies in the Vorthos community and how were they received at the time?
