Right, so we all expect that at least a few 'Walkers that are slogging it out in the streets of Ravnica are not going to make it out of this war alive. The question is, who do we think WotC is willing to kill off? We've got thirty-six contestants (and Tezzeret) to pick and choose from, so let's lay down our bets on the....let's say six Planeswalkers whose sparks get snuffed. That sounds like a decent number of deaths to be meaningful without giving the Brand Team a full-on aneurysm.

Freebie.) Dack Fayden - Did we see him get off-ed in the trailer? He doesn't have a card, so we're not counting him for this.

1.) Samut - To me, Samut is one of those characters who didn't resonate well with me. She seems nice and all, but there's like a million 'Walkers it feels like and she also seems to me like the kind of person to get mobbed down fighting a horde of her fellow zombie friends. Maybe she dies fighting that Eternal Manticore that she's in the flavor text for? Either way, I feel her story can end here without causing too much hassle.

2.) Domri Rade - Culling some more 'Walker space. Domri is going to pick a fight he can't win with someone better than him, I just know it.

3.) Kiora - I think the creative team is pretty well done with her. With Kiora gone, Nissa can shift over to more permanently and Vivien Reid can slide into the slot on the Gatewatch roster.

4.) Jaya Ballard - It pains me to write this, but I would not be shocked if she takes one for the team as an old woman to help inspire Chandra to be a better person. WotC doesn't need two pyromancer 'Walkers and Jaya has served her time.

5.) Ugin - I was going to put Ob in this slot because I wasn't sure what there was for him to do in the story going forward. Then I remembered that he maybe had something to do with the Chain Veil plot thread and that WotC has been reminding us recently that they have plans in the future for Garruk. That means they likely have plans in the future for Liliana as well so I think her burn-out in the trailer may be a red herring for drama. Anyway, There's a lot going on during WAR that Ugin needs to deal with. His old compatriots Sorin and Nahiri are tearing through Ravnica like it was an action movie set, Sarkhan is here, and of course, there's Bolas. I expect Ugin and Bolas to rumble, but Ugin to lose so that we can get to the climax of the story where Gideon puts the Blackblade to use.

6.) Bolas - As I said in another thread, Chekhov's Blackblade will taste Elder Dragon flesh before the end of this story one way or another. While I list Bolas in my dead list, I mean it more as "dead" for him. We will likely see a period of dormancy for the once all-powerful elder dragon.

At least one walker dies.

I can't see them killing Ugin. They killed him off in Tarkir only to go through all the time travel issue to bring him back just to kill him off again? I guess the black blade is going to hit either Bolas, Ugin or Niv-Mizzet by the end of the story.

My list:

Arlinn Kord - Wizards never really developed her and wouldn't be much of a loss to see her gone imo.

Dovin Baan - He just seems like that throw away henchman that bolas no longer has any use for. He is really not that interesting of a character imo.

Ob Nixilis - He doesn't really serve any purpose to the story, he is in neither side of the battle and just hanging out doing nothing really.

Jaya Ballard - I have to agree with you, I think her time is up and she really isn't needed.

Sarkhan Vol - I think his story arc is pretty much done, I don't see him really being involved in another main story and him facing Bolas would bring his story full circle.

I am having a hard time coming up with a six one but I have always felt that Gideon is just that guy that wants to turn himself into a Martyr.

I don't disagree, except that his thing seems to be trying to turn himself into a martyr and getting his friends killed instead.

I don't like Gideon as the one who dies because I think his whole arc is about him feeling guilty and basically working himself to death. if he is meant to be a protagonist, I think his journey needs to be one where he works past this obsession.

I also think if a major character is going to die, they're going to appear at Mythic Rare for their last appearance.

I think Gideon has a large chunk of foreshadowing signaling his demise, likely as a martyr, but also to clear space for the possibility of Teyo to step into his shoes.

If they're killing Bolas, Ob won't die. He's set up too perfectly to step into the dragon's shoes as the next possible big bad.

Ugin has nothing to do, effectively. He's been an awkward toss in for ages since they decided to elevate him from being more than a cheeky reference.

I give even odds on Jace simply by weight of momentum. He's been around a looong time.

Nissa is unpopular. Some may like her, but now would be the best time to close that door. I don't think Vivien is likely to assume her mantle either because her story is tied so deeply to Bolas. If they kill him, they'll probably kill her. I think the best green option would be Jianng, now that he's appeared.

Samut can die and nothing of value will be lost.

Domri and Dovin both are extremely expendable in this plot.

Here's my Deadpool done in the perspective of Deadpool.

1) The Wanderer, sorry we barely met, but really is there any other hobbies you mind doing?

2) Tezzeret. You helped the Phyrexian's kill Koth, stupid sexy Koth. You need to die.

3) Jace. Enough people hate him that he should already be dead... Maybe mind wiped one more time at least...

4) Chandra, let Grandma take the reigns!

5) Liliana, come on, that trailer show she went against the big scary guy! Stupid stupid! ...But will she still be sexy as a zombie... Probably not!

6) Bolas! Come on if he lives it's the end of MTG! No more tap for Mana, no islands are OP, no I need my $400 Mox!

...On second thought, let him live. Something needs to be done about those prices!

Despite the comedic bend of that, I feel it should be clarified Koth is still alive.

Either Sorin or Nahiri is going to drop.

I actually thought about making an actual deadpool with betting odds a few weeks ago but I didnt really have time to think about it much.

I think Domri dies, I half hope Nissa dies (even tho they could redeem her for me like Jace in Ixalan) and then the rest just depend on if we are returning to their plane soon. Jaya will die, because you have to kill the past. I want Dovin to die because he seems uninteresting but don't expect him to.

Kiora won't die if a return to theros is soon. Same for Ajani, honestly both them and Gideon might die so we never have to go back to Theros.
Jace won't die if we are going to Vryn soon (even tho the Niv spoiler throws that into question)
Karn might die if we aren't going to New Phyrexia soon, which honestly I don't expect to because they can just leave that on the backburner forever if they kill Karn, and then they have a pocket villain to release whenever someone decides to discover planar portal technology there.

Ravnica really isn't THAT much of a vacation spot.
Seriously, they've played absolute hell with how often the spark is supposed to manifest.

Depends on how big a chunk of the Multiverse the beacon reached though? And what are the rules for being or not being pulled by it?

Baring the basics like Dovin Baan (outright confirmed to be murdered by Chandra) I honestly don't see who will actually get killed in this set.

We know a third of the Gatewatch survives (Chandra, Liliana, Jace, Ajani, Vraska) and all these new characters like Davriel, Angrath, Kaya, Hutali, Saheeli and Teyo would feel like complete wastes if they kicked the bucket right here.

Things are looking further bleak for Gideon according to the new issue of Chandra's comic
