Good morning everyone.
Today I wanted to delve a little into the flavor of being a mage and the process of magic.
In every fantasy world, wizards cast spells to perform a variety of supernatural feats. The process is often the same: fuel, catalyst, ritual, effect. Some stories explain this process while others leave it unknown. I wanted to know the process of magic in the
magic: the gathering multiverse. What is known is:
Fuel: Mana, the lifeforce of a plane represented by five colors.
Catalyst: The
manabond, tethering a mage to a land when meaning is found.
Ritual: Not well known. Is it an incantation? Hand movements? Force of will?
Effect: Almost anything depending on the mana which fuels it.
According to
Doug Beyer, mages seem to recall a memory of a creature or effect and fuel that memory with mana which manifests the effect. What do you think?
