I have always wondered, what kind of trials and challenges does a village or kingdom have to face in the MTG verse. I mean what with all these creatures, mages, and the occasional spout of wild magic from leylines. What kind of things do you think these people occasionally have to worry about other than the usual.

The leylines do nothing. It's only literally within the last two years that they've floated the idea they're important.

That said, mostly it boils down to minor tribal warfare. Elves suffer encroachment and then genocide in reaction, goblins sweep in and raid what they can before self destructing, giant spiders are the most common magical beast the regular village has to deal with usually.

For the most part, things aren't especially different.
I cite, for the record, short stories from the various pre and post rev anthologies.
