While I'd initially intended just to start a thread to ask about any known information about King Macar, the Gold-Cursed outside of his card (that would be appreciated) I decided instead to start a thread dedicated to discussing the plethora of legendary creatures (and perhaps other legendary permanents) that do not appear in Uncharted Realms, Planeswalker's Guides, or enough flavor text to draw concrete conclusions about them. Feel free to either discuss what IS known about them, or even theorize what their story is, or for some, what plane they hail from.

Starting off, I would like to ask about King Macar, the Gold-Cursed. Clearly he was a king, and was cursed to turn anyone (and anything?) he touched to gold, as his name and in-game abilities suggest. But who or what is he now? My first guess is he dwells in the underworld, hence all the gold in Erebos' realm for use in forging masks for the Returned.

The gold that they make the masks out of come from the coins meant to pay Athreos for passage to the underworld. That sort of wealth adds up over the years until it's kind of worthless, but the clay funeral masks aren't as resistant as... y'know, metal, so they end up being used as money in the underworld while the gold continues to just stack up.

Ohhhh. Is there a source for that? Either way, I believe it. Then I still wonder what's up with King Macar.

I also wouldn't mind some insight into upon what planes Nekusar and Oloro dwell on.

Art book mentioned her. She basically told Runo Stromkirk to push off (a while ago, but apparently she really drove that point home again) and appears to be holding her own.

You already have the artbook? Mine should hopefully arrive tomorrow. Definitely like story questions spelled out, and I'm definitely on a kick to make characters as well as put together a viable Plane Shift: Zendikar campaign, and crossing my fingers Innistrad is next. Just gotta do my best to find a proper place for the color pie with spells and abilities and such. Anyway, good to know the artbook gives a little depth on stuff like that.
