Since EM is based on body horror obviously something or another gets crossed over with the post-Carpenter interpretation of the Thing, but there are a few things that seem oddly familiar:

- Ms. Sadie basically pulls a surprise creepy. The sudden shift from normalcy to multi arms pretty much is a stapple of the modern Thing.

- Elder Kolman resembles strongly a mixture of infected Bennings and Norris

- Brunela is obviously "two-face", and even seems to have formed like it did in the prequel.

- Scourge Wolf has a vague resemblance to the Kennel Thing, though it could be largely coincidental, since it is a dog as well.
