I like the fact that this slate includes two men, two women, and one nonbinary character. That's a good starting point.

I'm less thrilled that we're really lacking a way of bridging in from the past, though.

Can we briefly consider how that might be made to happen with the five stories and with the place of these characters in Lormor?

Actually maybe.
In the purifying fire, an elemental from Lorwyn was mentioned. Spitebellows. Chandra said she'd never heard of it, but pretended she had to make Brannon feel better.

So what if Chandra went there because of something Jaya supposedly did? Keral Keep clearly has records of Lorwyn.
Aside from that, the Book of Kith and Kin ended up on the markets of Kephalai, so someone dropped it there. Gives us an angle on Gideon to connect him from there.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don't think its necessary. I feel like if its connected to the post mending story/setting too much it'll be messy. Maybe just have Lily saying something about how it was pre-mending.

@Squid:

Well, I mean, given that a huge part of the backlash was due to the fact that everything seemed to have been cut out... yeah that sounds like a really lousy plan.

@Barinellos:

That's a tenuous thread but we can work with it! I really like the idea of Jaya being a bit more of a presence in the narrative--not necessarily appearing but setting up some sense of her having been present and maybe a little bit of mystery as to where she's gone.

I wasn't their so i'm probably not the best to talk about it. What I have noticed though is that people are no longer aggressively angry about it. I mean, a LOT of us complain about the mending pretty frequently, but i never really hear complaints about incorporating the previous story line. I mean, the fact that it hasn't been mentioned before in this thread, which is dedicated to the mending, says something.

EDIT: and I still feel like it would be messy to try and incorporate it too much.

Yeah no this has always been one of the core complaints from old storyline fans.

Okay, let's wrap this up. I don't think a small mention of Jaya is going to hurt anyone and could be a good way to segue into the new storyline. Especially with Bolas coming up. Expect the next thread tomorrow.

I'll begin formulating a pitch then. I have some very specific ideas to put together for this
