All I remember is that the circa Invasion, Odyssey, Mirrodin, and prior, those books were super inappropriate for a young age.

No idea what any of the books since are like.

I would definitely recommend Ravncia. The sequels kind off fall off in quality though.
The whole Ice Age trilogy was pretty good throughout.
Mind you, I have a lot less knowledge on the topic than a lot of the others here.
