Johnny Six-Fingers Legendary Creature - Human Rogue ~ power and toughness are equal to the last number and second-to-last number rolled respectively. : Roll a six-sided die. Any player may activate this ability. "Am I a gamblin' man? Is that even a question?" */* I don't even know. |

What happens if no dice were rolled previously? Like in 99.99 percent of all Magic games? I get the appeal of dice, but I don't think they add enough design space that they're worth the extra resources to support. I don't think Hearthstone's random spells add anything to the game, for example. |

I like it! It fits red's slice of the pie and is easily tracked, although I would just make P/T relative to a single roll for both of them. Maybe even make the ability cost . |

design seems like a fine use of dice Sirlin says random numbers make a game less calculable which changes the way players evaluate strategies. I think he likes ambiguous payoffs. |

It doesn't say 'when' the die was rolled. |

The dice theme has been called one of the least popular portions of Unglued. Enough Magic players appear to dislike randomness that goes beyond the shuffling of the decks (and even that at times) that it's kept to a minimum. It's also the reason that coin flip cards are pretty much a once-in-a-blue-moon thing, and clash apparently being disliked. On a less serious note -
Down the slippery slope!
