Tendon Tearer
Creature — Bird Berserker (U)
When Tendon Tearer enters the battlefield, hoard 2. (Exile the top two cards of your library to your hoard pile. If you would draw a card, you may put a card you're hoarding into your hand instead.)
As long as you're hoarding a creature card, Tendon Tearer has flying.
3/2

What I need is reminder text that clarifies my intention that you may take cards from your hoard pile even if Tendon Tearer isn't around any more. But I can't think of any. That that that.

The mechanic itself is kinda like scrying I guess. But more powerful because you don't have to worry if there's a card you don't want right now but know you'll probably want later. Unlike scry, it does reveal the cards, which might matter.

I can get behind this.
There's a small part of me that would like it better with "As long as ~ is hoarding a creature" instead, but that is sort of counterintuitive to how you would normally stack the cards, so I dunno.

You can look at your hoard at any time right?

*"To YMTC it up" means to design cards that have value mostly from a design perspective. i.e. you would put them in a case under glass in your living room and visitors could remark upon the wonderful design principles, with nobody ever worring if the cards are annoying/pointless/confusing in actual play

exile is face-up by default, your hoard is visible to all

Something very similar to Hoard was submitted in the GDS2. Illuminate, maybe?

Yeah I looked and it is in fact the same.

Oh well, I came up with it independently.

Also I came up with an easy solution to the reminder text problem: make cards where it would make no sense to have it any other way.

Craven Crow :u:
Creature — Bird Rogue (C)
Flying
Craven Crow can block only creatures with flying.
When Craven Crow dies, hoard 1. (Exile the top card of your library to your hoard pile. If you would draw a card, you may put a card you're hoarding into your hand instead.)
1/1

Grasping Greed
Instant (C)
Hoard 3.
Draw a card. (You may take a card you're hoarding instead.)

Secluded Farmer :1::g:
Creature - Human Druid
When ~ enters the battlefield, hoard 2.
:t:: Add to your mana pool one mana of any color of a card in your hoard.
1/2
