You do if you play the card. (Which most likely makes it too powerful.)

It seems like a better Kjeldoran Outpost, but I'm not sure it's too powerful, it's just a turn faster I think.

It also doesn't nuke one of your lands.

True, but outpost can be thrown into any deck with plains and the outcome is the same. There's a bigger deck building cost with Barracks that I think makes it ok. I'm not saying it's not powerful. Just saying it's probably not TOO powerful.

What I meant to imply with my post is that you can use the ability in response to the champion trigger, championing said token.

Ahhh, interesting. I thought you meant it in a deck building sense. I could see how it's "too" powerful in the sense that there's little reason to play Raise the Alarm over it then...or even a Plains (feels a bit like Urborg now)

Inspired by Sphinx of Scriptures:

Doubtweaver
Creature — Nightmare
Discard a land card: Draw a card.
The bounty of nature has no use to a fiend that feeds off of fear.
4/3

Oh oh also:

Glyphweaver
Creature — Elf Shaman
Protection from creatures with abilities.
The actual meaning of the petroglyphs has been lost to time. All the elves know is what happens when they are drawn in the air.
2/1

Not drawing the connection between Doubtweaver and its ability.
Also land-sac/discard effects seem to be predominantly red.

I'm guessing Glyphweaver is supposed to be a 2/2 or something.
Ironic how it doesn't work with the Petroglyph......

Hmm, I didn't even mean to make two weavers.

I spent a while thinking about what color Doubtweaver should be. I actually thought maybe blue because of Mana Severance. But it just felt black to me, somehow. Originally it was Rakdos, then Grixis. Then I just made it mono black. But I think you're right, actually. Mono-red is the color that most needs to never run out of gas anyway.

I think it might work better as an enchantment.

Smoke Signal
Enchantment
Discard a land card: Draw a card.

And Glyphweaver was meant to be a 2/1, cf. Dryad Sophisticate.

I'd attach a mana cost to the ability. Seems too good otherwise.

But that would so go against the feel I'm going for. Maybe if it dealt 1 damage to you?

Or like:

Lord of Sorrows
Creature — Demon
Flying
Discard a land card: Draw a card.
5/5

Put it on a Timmy creature's body so that it's not usable until the late game, when you really need it?

Crackle
Instant
Choose target creature or player, then flip a coin. If you win the flip, Crackle deals 3 damage to that target. Otherwise, it deals 2 damage.

Who says there's no middle ground between Shock and Lightning Bolt?

Can I make hearthstone cards too?

Animal Companion
Sorcery
Put a random 4/2 green Boar creature token with haste onto the battlefield.
"It's always Huffer."

I actually think that translating the cards from game to game is an interesting thought experiment.

Agreed Parad.

I actually like the idea being Silly's card too. Something like:

Unplanned Birth
Instant (U)
Each player reveals their hand, put a creature with converted mana cost three or less chosen at random from among all revealed cards onto the battlefield.

But, you know, refined.
