I think there certainly exists a deck built around Kwende. Obviously you're not there yet, but you have a plan and some good ideas, and what's more is that the plan is plenty deep enough to be supported. Yes the deck is currently unfocused, but that's what cuts are for. You just have a few too many themes.

Unfortunately for you I'm not really gonna help you with that right now as my first instinct with any deck is to see if there are any cool ideas you missed. =p

Concerted Effort, Akroma's Memorial and Archetype of COurage are pretty much essential.

I don't think Consul's Lieutenant is worthwhile. He's going to die pretty easy, probably before he earns any renown.
Diviner's Wand seems like an odd choice. Aren't there better card draw options?
Marshal's Anthem is a slightly weaker anthem with an expensive way to get back your dead guys. I'm not a fan of it, especially since you already have so many ways of doing the latter.
Light from Within?
Sadly Hunted dragon seems to be the only card in the game that makes tokens with first strike. I'm kind of shocked.
Do a Gatherer search: "whenever" (equipped/ a creature you control/ enchanted"... "deals combat damage". Quietus Spike is only the beginning.
I would cut a bunch of the smaller first strikers and focus on making tokens and granting first strike to large swathes of creatures. Equipment and auras have to do more than just grant first strike to one creature to earn their spot. I'd cut all the less than simply awesome ones and focus on things that boost your whole team.
Those 2 and 3 drop knights just aren't powerful in edh. I'd only keep the best few of them. That or go all in on knight tribal.

There are multiple routes to go with Kwende:
1) Play a horde of generally powerful creatures + a lot of first strike lords. Would need card selection, lol. Uninspiring, IMHO - you just play a deck with a lot of Rage Reflections.
2) Go "all in" on small first striker aggro. Optionally, may include knight tribal.
3) Equipment. Boring.
4) Use Kwende as a tool to make good creatures better, and play "first strike midrange". Which is what I am going for.

Ability cocktail cards probably need building around to actually be good. Now, they'd mostly give flying to our creatures plus double strike to those that don't already have it. Also, they kind of harm the spirit and charm of the deck by making first strike irrelevant.

First strike giving cards are useful, but:
1) We have only 14 creatures without first strike or a way to get it.
2) Wall of Omens, Oreskos Explorer, Mentor of the Meek, Mother of Runes, and Intrepid Hero don't really benefit from double strike much.
So, we have 21 self-sufficent first strikers, 9 creatures that want to have first (double) strike, and 5 creatures that don't really give a carp.
3) At this rate, I like having three first strike lords with other useful benefits, and three cards that give first strike to a chosen creature with other very useful benefits (TPW, where did you find those "random first strike Equipment/Auras" ? There are none.)

Light from Within is probably a good idea, seeing as 18/35 creatures gain an extra buff.

Diviner's wand is evasion plus stat boost plus card draw. It just does everything we want, if inefficently.

Marshal's Anthem is a real deal. It's good early, it's good late, it's going to save us from losing to board wipes and targeted removal (both are equally deadly for us)...

Baneslayers and Angelic Destiny are out cause of budget. Also they piss me off.

I HAVE searched for saboteur abilities, thank you very much : )

Sadly, there aren't a lot of other good big first strikers. Akroma, two Baneslayers, Razormane Masticore... that's pretty much it.

Loxodon Warhammeris OK, but pales in comparsion to Sword of Vengeance or Heirloom Blade, IMHO. Trample is nice... wish we had more ways to get it. Maybe Dragon Throne of Tarkir is worth it ??

Crescendo of War is a good way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Ah, good to know the road you intend to take this deck.

The reason for cocktail cards in this list, in my thought process, is to provide evasion, either by having it themselves or granting it to others via Odric 2.0 and Concerted Effort. I just think you will find yourself gummed up on the ground more often than you realize, even with first strike. Also, even if flying lowers the usefulness of first strike it absolutely skyrockets the usefulness of double strike. I say this from experience playing skyhunter skirmisher in my Arahbo deck.

I understand your opinions on everything else, but allow me to just give one more nudge in favor of Crescendo of War. Don't forget that first strike is the most powerful on the defense where you can mass block.
I understand it's a risk, but the upside could be MASSIVE if you have even a handful of vigilance granting effects. You'll have a wall of first/double striking creatures that can mass block just about anything your opponents could dream of throwing at you while still being able to attack profitably.
Admittedly this can backfire horribly when an opponent has have more creatures than you do. If that's an issue you can pillow fort.

Now maybe I'm off in magical christmas land (heaven knows my brain loves to travel there), but I just figured I'd give you my thoughts on why I chose it.
