Metamorphic Wurm - Simple design and balanced, but the art and flavor are good.

I have this in my Kresh the Bloodbraided commander deck. It sure can make a lot of things enter and dies before my next turn.

Collected Conjuring
Was this ever central to a combo?

I really wish Quiet Speculation was playable somewhere.

I really hoped that Key to the City would be a thing in standard.

Hundred-Handed One's gimmick was repeated a bunch of times, but I think it was the first card that blocked a thematic # of creatures instead of an unlimited number. Two-Headed Giant of Foriys was thematic I'll grant, but more limited.

Im actually surprised how much they gutted the nonpermanent version of Collected Company despite being in set made explicitly for Modern. Like, this requires two colors instead of just one, and only hits sorceries which limits its ability to facilitate combos.

I mean, last time I played Modern, Izzet Storm was a thing qith cost reducers like Goblin Electromancer and Baral, Chief of Compliance, and maybe this would have been ridiculous in that if any better, but then why make this in the first place when it begs to be put in such a strategy.

The more I look at this, the more it angers me, especially since R&D has pushed other designs like Ragavan, Hogaak, and Astrolabe ... as someone who rarely plays blue, Storm is a pain, but oof

Yeah, the sorcery thing stands out as being weird. The only time sorceries and instants aren't mentioned together is when there's a timing concern. I guess Collected Conjuring doesn't exactly mesh with counterspell, but you could always just choose not to cast it, so...

Well, I should post a neat card, so Cunning Evasion.
You can use it to almost give creatures with etb abilities evasion.

City of Shadows

This is on the list of cards I've seen a million times without reading. I actually kind of love it? I can just charge it over and over and get a giant mana reservoir? And all it costs me is a creature every turn? Sign me up!

I always thought it could be, but I feel like nonpermanent combo cards are more often about having a ton of them rather than having specific ones.

It definitely was playable in the past. If it were legal in Modern or Pioneer, I could see it having some play there. I, for one, would like to fill my yard with 3 copies of Battle Screech and have an instant pecking army.

This card always shows up in my searches. I always need cheap discard outlets without costs attached, at it's always staring back at me, waiting to make my giant Noose Constrictor unblockable.

I never got to use this card in draft, and that always upset me. Always thought it'd have some neat play to it.

I'll nominate Clock of Omens. How does that much free card manipulation not create a broken deck somehow?
