Of the two I think BBE is going to be more annoying to deal with. Jace will probably help create either a caw blade reboot or a more solid w/u control deck, but people have to remember you can try and cram him into anything with blue but you wont succeed unless you can slow down the meta. That and he's now more vulnerable than when he was initially released since in black alone there are at min 3 cards that outright destroy planeswalkers, dreadbore being the easiest to squeeze in if he becomes a problem. BBE has always been damn efficient for basically being cast two spells either get another body or removal in the right decks and that translates into a lot of hard to stop value. The haste is a nice cherry on top. ALOT of things are 3cc or lower in modern decks. |

When the year started, I was debating returning to the game with Modern, so I can play something relatively high-powered and have my cards not rotate, and besides I need to do something social lest work overtakes my life. I like control decks, so I immediately started eyeing blue fetches, Cryptics, Snapcasters and whatnot. And then talk of a Jace unban began and became increasingly louder and I said to myself, "hell, if they unban it, it will go super expensive and I will need it to play blue control". I was so afraid of pulling the trigger on it, spent the last two weeks thinking "no, should buy Flooded Strand first", and so on, but the fear of an unban crept on more and more and literally minutes before the B&R announcement, after spending an hour staring at the cart, I finished the purchase of a playset. Holy hell, it paid off. Even got a confirmation e-mail from the store, hope they don't cancel it. (and hopefully they won't ban it now that it has reached $150 or so, pretty sure that would be a confidence killer second only to abolishing the reserved list.) |

BBE can't be much worse than CoCo can it? And you certainly aren't running both. |

Eh that's only somewhat true due the randomness factor on BBE as it applies to its plays, but a well built deck that runs BBE gets not just creatures but spells like fatal push, lightning bolt, path, chart a course(with drawback), Abrupt Decay, ect. Think of BBE as coco's initial test but much more evil to play with. Your always getting the base 3/2 haste creature and some other spell. Its certainly a build around me card but the thing is it can be built around both creatures and spells and that is a enormous pool in modern. Coco grabs only creatures and I could maybe see a 3x BBE to a 2x Coco split in the future if the brewers can get a base for both. |
