So Kelly Digges said that Dinosaur will be returning as a supported creature type and that "existing dinosaurs" will get a creature type update.
Myself (and presumably many others) being huge dinosaur fans I'd like to compile a list of existing cards that are likely to get (or we hope get) a creature type update.
The problem is that there's no definitive way to search for what a dinosaur is in magic's 24 year history so we're relying on people remembering individual cards and that's where I'd like the forum's help.
Here's what I've got so far:
Old Fogey The one, the true, the only
Allosaurus Rider I know, I know, the name is focusing on the elf, but the art has a giant frickin' dinosaur on it...so here's hoping.
Brooding Saurian this one is iffy, I'm really not sure if this stays as a lizard or gets the new type
Crag Saurian again iffy, this one is also just very bad
Deathmist Raptor all the YES
Dromosaur
Frenetic Raptor Onslaught block had a couple dinos
Fungusaur another iffy
Gnathosaur iffy, but more likely than some of the other iffys based on the art in my opinion
Imperiosaur Hail to the King
Magmasaur Little Foot grew up into a lava spewing long neck
Pangosaur iffy
Putrid Raptor Zombie Dino!
Pygmy Allosaurus Awwww, what a cute little AAARRRGGGG!!
Pygmy Pyrosaur I honestly actually don't think this one will get the update, but I list it here anyway solely because it has "saur" in its name
Ridgetop Raptor Oh. Yes.
Shivan Raptor Hai GUYS!
Tyrranax I believe this was the first black border T-Rex printed?
Alpha Tyrranax Vanilla Big T (Muraganda Petroglyphs hype!)

I'd love to hear new additions!

Terra Stomper.

Though, Dinosaur type makes as little sense as Beast type - just, instead of being overly unspecific, it's overly specific.

Judging by their legs, neither Saurian really qualifies as a dinosaur.

Also I never really paid too much attention to its art, but I always thought Terra Stomper was a mammal. Oh well.

EDIT: As it's probably not actually common knowledge, I thought I'd specify: one of the distinguishing features of dinosaurs as opposed to other reptiles is that their legs go straight down and not sideways (like a crocodile's or gecko's for example).

Hm... possible. But the existence of Stomper Cub makes me agree with Wahooney here.
Also, sense be darned, they're freaking dinosuars! :D=P

I forgot about the leg thing. That does sway me on the saurians, though I found another sideways leg lizard below that I think might end up getting the dino tag based on popular misconception.

Fliers. I know they're not technically dinosaurs, but pterosaurs are popularly associated with them so I'd think they'd get the update too.
Cloudfin Raptor iffy, it's called a bird, but....eh....maybe?
Frost Raptor typeline says bird, image darn near says drake, maybe pterosaur?
Pteron Ghost

That's all I see for fliers right now, but I also see some other possible dinosaurs by looking through all the lizard and beast subtypes
Lathnu Sailback Dimetrodon isn't technically a dinosaur, but I know he's associated with them so I'd give this the nod
Ashen Firebeast T-Rex on FIRE. sort of. Not exactly a T-Rex but it does look an awful lot like a theropod. Wait...are those extra arms??? Ok maybe no dino tag here.
Hystrodon Ankylosaurus variant
Macetail Hystrodon Ankylosaurus variant #2

Oh wow, I certainly hope not. But the announcement video mentioned "historically accurate dinosaurs", so odds are decent they're making the correct choice with the fliers.

And I have absolutely no clue what's going on in the art for Pallimud :ookay:

Several of those are Beasts in a block where Beasts had tribal support. So for those, at least, the Dinosaur creature type would likely be an addition rather than a replacement, if they get it at all.

Yeah, Beasts have historically kept the beast type when they get a new type assigned, which is why every goat card printed so far is a Goat Beast, and why Ridgetop Raptor is a Lizard Beast.

I think anything that becomes a Dinosaur will no longer be a Lizard, but will keep any other types it had (Beast, Zombie, Fungus, etc.).

While that would be freaking sweet I don't think the token successfully distinguishes itself as anything resembling even a half a dinosaur:

Unfortunately, one of the leaked cards shows a Pterosaur type creature with a Dinosaur type.

That's annoying, but not too surprising. They do tend to follow the public perception of the source material rather than the source material itself. Also, Magic taxonomy is generally a mess.

Beast type is a thing that should have never existed.

I don't think I agree with that. There are a lot of creatures, especially in green, that don't resemble any real-world animals and are instead just big, muscular monsters. These don't fit any other type but they do have some similarities to each other, so the Beast creature type is appropriate there. The problem is that the creature type gets overused or abused. It seems to often have been used just as a generic "animal", as seen by how many of them now have other creature types (e.g. Chambered Nautilus, Coalhauler Swine). And there are some Beasts that are decidedly less big, muscular, or monstrous than the term implies.

Well, there goes my excitement then.

I'm expecting pteron ghost to get errata'd

I remember on the mothership after the GCTU that people complained about the removal of Ships and Dinosaurs (wish we had ships too).

I remember typing 'there is only one Dinosaur in the game!' (unglued doesn't count).

Yet here is it's come back. I expect the old guy too get it's type back too.

Shame it's impossible for him to be reprinted (landwalk is always solid!).

Raptor literally means bird of prey. Those two are actually fairly unlikely to get the dino type, even if they include pterosaurs. Unless Castle Raptors also gets it :V

Why did they remove Dinosaur as a type in the first place? It always seemed a strange decision to me, like surely the number of people who would be excited to summon dinosaurs is greater than the number who really want to do Lizard tribal?
