Back in MTG's heyday, there was a broader demographic to what you'd see than the current one.

I recall well the then, the factors that applied, and why. (My playerbase was alt culture and fraternity-ish, as an aside...) I remember well those days, up til my first brush-in with what the game became after the first Block.

Now to the swingiest of all things. What's the most fun cards for the returning and the freerange playerbase? Is there any affiliated swag that goes over well with making the game have a pleasant ambience?

As for what card's not a bad one, I've found the game's currently defunct lategame to be made all better by the Bands with Other and Rampage reminder card. You know, the one that comes with the Legends booster packs. Any deck needing that carried about with it is a good 'un. Shame that Shelkin Brownie got nerfed, but whatever.

Insinuation being, I'd appreciate some guidance in building anew my playerbase. I nixed the last one, ultimately. What sorta (admittedly oldschool) decks and singular cards give off the gaming as a quality frickin' experience vibe I want?

I barely understand your post, so I'm not even sure if this advice is accurate or not, but EDH/Commander is currently the most popular casual format, by a wide margin.

Don't remind me.
I view it as part of the problem because it's SLAUGHTERED variety in the casual variants, chief among them 60 card kitchen table magic.

Part of that is because its harder to define what a casual deck in edh is than in 60 card. A lot of my "casual" decks are quite powerful old standard decks that are not longer legal but I still have tons of fun with.

i think he's looking for cards/decks that recreate the feeling of magic that he enjoyed when he was younger

Use old cards.

It sounded to me like he didn't have anyone to play with after he 'nixed' his last group. If you just want to fuss about old times with a bunch of fogeys, then why not just play with old cards?

Again though, your post is like barely intelligible despite being mostly English, so I really only gathered that there's some rose tinted glasses and badwrongfun.

...Demonic Pact?

Ah, glad my attempts to be soft-spoken haven't otherwise derailed the opportunity to spark conversation. :D I've only played two games of that lousy format, once with the precon that had Storm Herd in it, won that...and another time I Capsized Rakdos on the attack and opponent rage-quit. Thought he'd of gotten the hint when I started doing combos with Armageddon and Bitter Ordeal.

I would indeed employ the sensible option of using old cards. I don't have difficulty accruing kitchen table level interest in having game nights, but I was wondering as to there being tactful paraphenalia that tends towards kitchen table level fun, and some pointers to my currently discombobulated sense of what makes a functional deck. Somewhere between a 80 card throwback with a Craw Wurm or two and flinging Mana Drains over Moxen.

I have been brewing decks with the cardpool not containing anything post-Weatherlight. That seems like a fun amount of cards to work with.
