What if there was a cycle of twenty cards which get reprinted every set or two, one card for each rarity/color combination?

What cards would you put in there?

Because people weren't groaning quite enough when Naturalize was printed back to back in M12 and Innistrad, and then twice in Tarkir block?

Also this would be a little tricky to maintain, as they do like to wiggle some cards between rarities depending on the limited environment. For example, I'd suggest Oblivion Ring, which would likely be uncommon right now, but might want to shift to common at some point.

With their recent suggestion of flash-standardizing Duress and Pithing Needle, they might be considering something like this. Not to mention they have been reprinting a cycle at rare to the deck builders toolkit every year for a while - it was Aegis Angel, Mahamoti Djinn, Nightmare, Shivan Dragon, Terra Stomper for a while; they recently changed it up and now it's Herald of War, Sphinx of Magosi, Nightmare, Shivan Dragon, Garruk's Horde.

That is how I thing they'd do it - in a supplementary product stated to be standard legal, rather than clogging up booster slots with evergreen reprints.

I highly doubt they'd push Human/Angel tribal with the starter decks.

I was thinking Elvish Mystic, Acidic Slime, Hornet Nest, and a green planeswalker...
Hornet Nest being there because it's pretty good support for mono-green.

I would simply put a bunch of not-terrible cards that aren't niche but also not super-strong in one specific strategy.
