Wizards should print a :0:-mana artifact named Lack Blotus that says "Don't add three mana of any one color to your mana pool" then when the Reprint Mafia knocks on their door they can just say "look it's not our fault everybody keeps misplaying it at Vintage tournaments"

Alternatively all the judges could say "unfortunately we couldn't get a good look at those cards before the massive paper-shredder accident, but they're saying they were Black Lotuses and we believe them, so we'll issue proxies"

The reserved list doesn't need fixing. It does what it set out to do just fine. Eternal formats hardly have an impact on what gets printed these days.

I'm going to go become a judge and eventually HJ a sanctioned Vintage event so I can do this.

How about we just drop the list in the massive paper shredder accident instead?

The Reserved List still exists and most likely will for all of time. Bear in mind that the Reserved List only applies to normal cards in paper MTG and not to non-normal paper cards (such as oversized ones), nor does it apply to any digital form such as MTGO.

Although, normal cards now covers foil "premium" cards, which it did not initially. They closed that loophole up.

I'm surprised it repeats the old "Legacy and vintage are meant to die!" rhetoric after Eternal Masters became a thing.

It's because it is true. They are meant to die, after Wizards has wrung what money that can out of the formats' corpses. Eternal Masters was Wizards seeing if they could use old format nostalgia to sell $10 booster packs and it worked.

What NEEDS to be fixed is the fact that there's a pseudo-Reserved List of Modern cards, and Damnation is on it.

Lemme ask this:

If the Reserved List needs to be fixed, what FAIR cards currently on the Reserved List should be reprinted?

I want Damnation reprinted. What do you want reprinted?

Post subject:  Re: How to fix the Reserved List

None of them terribly need to be reprinted. But, as the article said, there's really no point on the over half the list that sits at under two dollars (barring market manipulation shenanigans) being on the list in the first place. Removing them makes them less susceptible to price spikes and opens up a handful of fresh new (old) cards that can filter into supplemental sets from time to time to make older players like me smile.

I mean, look at this chart and tell me that the Reserve List is doing anything that costs even $10.00 or less any favors.
