Yeah, sure. I want to make sure the consolation prize winners ban something, but I see no reason to force grand prize winners to make a certain number of changes.

Revoker isn't much worse than meddling mage, although things already on the field can be affected too .

Foil only really works with things like nether spirit and is famous for being present in a lot of mise decks. Are there actually viable foil decks not prone to tying?

We still need the consolation prize bans from POSValkir and Keeper. If I don't have anything by Thursday morning*, though, I might just choose myself, because I'll be away from my computer from Thursday afternoon to around midnight on Friday.

i don't recall foil ever being much of a problem when it was legal. it was a good deck but not unreasonably so

As far as I know, Foil works with either Nether Spirit or Chancellor of the Forge. The first is a mise deck that can't do anything if you don't play vs it, and the second is extremely weak to dual threat decks based on land. Ignoring the fact that gemstone caverns + forge is already a thing...

Foil-Forge is just a better Blast deck. Spirit is not a deck, because it can't win. Caverns can't win on the play.

Foil could probably be permanently unbanned, yeah.

channex isn't that bad if you know it's coming. and it's gonna get rebanned right away.

One nice thing about the current grand prize structure is that, even if Channex doesn't win a round, anyone in the top three can ban it. It was always kind of awkward last season when really powerful cards just got intensely hated out of the top three for a round or two, which just forced continuous hating.

Well obviously I feel like banning Tabbie..but with Channex unbanned it might just be fun to let everyone draw every single round .

Pretty sure I know what my Vanilla round deck is...anyone know off the top of their head the last time Channex was not banned? I did all my prep-work not expecting Channex to be viable and I have no idea what decks use it.

The last decks people used when it was around were:

Fountain of Cho + Path to Exile
Icatian Store + Path to Exile

These came in 5th, 5th, and 8th out of 10.

The 5th place deck tied subterranean hangar + mesmeric fiend + consuming vapors, lost to city of traitors + double chronomaton, lost to hammerheim + raze + memnite, and lost to cavern of souls + double chronomaton.


That being said, I think people were a little lazy in implementing the channex there. I mean, the implications with wasteland alone are going to be fun, but I can think of a lot of things people did not try in favor of trying to cast the channex. Jack has plans . Prepare for four rounds of fun, fun, Fun!.

note that the changes only apply to the vanilla rounds. the alt list does not change: Channex is still illegal in those.

Wasteland was probably banned at the time, I know that in Round 1 of some season, when the banned list was literally nothing, Channex-Icatian Store-Strip Mine was popular, I remember Razor had a pretty saucy workaround in Island-Lotus-Lab Maniac, but like 6 people ended up tying for 1st.
