You'd have to redowbload the set file anyway. We'd have big announcements and I imagine editing would happen in batches and very rarely.

it could just be like a monthly update or whatever where you go download the new version, which we'll have to have sometimes anyway if new sets get added.

While we don't have the user base to support many formats, releasing the sets one at a time might be a little less daunting. If WOTC released a 2000 card set it would be overwhelming, especially for new players.

That might be best. Stagger them by a month each until the backlog is gone, then release new sets when ready, at most once/season.

If the NGA Gatherer thing eventually comes to fruition, that will be the #1 source for Oracle text and card updates. If it isn't, the Cockatrice plugin will be updated regularly and is searchable from within the program, though obviously not as well as an actual Gatherer.

Editing: please don't. It will make the format even more of a nightmare to keep track of.

I don't think it's unreasonable to release errata every couple of months or so together with the banlist update.

Bannings: I'm ok with bannings under 3 conditions. First, we should play with the format for a couple of months before we ban anything. Second, bannings done every couple of months, the way wotc does them, rather than "whenever we think a card is broken", because then it's easier to keep track of what's on the banlist. Third, we should vote on the bans instead of leaving them up to one person.

I agree with everything. In the Pokémon competitive community, suspected bans are placed under "suspect testing" before being put to a community vote. I think that's something we can work with.

Honestly, I'm having trouble remembering the thousands of cards even when they do the same thing every time you cast them. Changing them will put too big of a burden on my memory.

Then you probably shouldn't play card games.

It's Magic: the Gathering.

Not Hearthstone: the Cancering.

well, it's Magic: the Gathering but with a bunch of cards that have never seen an iota of development or playtesting.

Honestly FFL let SFM and Batterskull get printed in the same standard, so let's not pretend they know how to do their job.

right but we've got Royal Alkahest and Miracle Chymist.

I'm beginning to suspect that this is so CKY can show off how broken he can make cards.

Don't be silly. It's not as if Solphos block and NGA Masters are so powerful that they largely overshadow most of the other sets in the format, resulting in a format dominated by sets I created. Who would think such a thing?

Then we end up with Tarmogoyf and combo decks dominating the format. There's no way out!

Ah, but that's the genius! Goyf and combo are banned in All-Vanilla.

Actually, I'm going through Velicta now and it has a lot of powerful tools for aggro, so it looks like Solphos and Taramir won't be totally format-defining after all.

Edit: And apparently there will be more Anteaters than Elves in the format thanks to The Exterminators block. What hath man wrought?

Either Exterminators made a TON of anteaters or we all really, really hate elves.

I think B/G will be just fine against all the combo and for that, I thank Szat.
