Sharing personal information related to some perceived fear you think I have has nothing to do with whether or not the OP takes my advice... which she doesn't have to take that advice.

Having said that, it doesn't change the fact that I shared with her advice based on my experience.

it has a lot to do with it, given that the purpose of advice is to help people avoid consequences or gain benefits. therefore, what those potential consequences or benefits are matters a lot. so the question remains, why should one not lend decks to or borrow decks from friends who one trusts?

although if you have no friends you trust to not steal your things given the opportunity, I might suggest you have trust issues you may want to look into.

anyway, Mata, my advice is if you borrow a deck from someone, do not steal it. that way you will not damage your friendship with that person.

I'm not sure even you have any idea what you're saying anymore, but here's the logical route I'm following:

a) you advise Mata against borrowing a deck from a friend, because this will ruin the friendship.
b) when asked why, you cite personal experience with "borrowing"
c) "borrowing" means stealing.

therefore, the reason borrowing would hurt a friendship is that the borrowed deck would be stolen. therefore, the problem only exists if you believe Mata would steal the deck once borrowed. if Mata doesn't steal the deck (Mata, don't steal the deck) then no theft takes place, thus no adverse friendship-affecting events occur, Mata gets to play with a good deck, Mata's friend gets their deck back unharmed, and everyone is happy.

There's a lot of irrational assumptions being made in what you believe is a "logical" argument.

I really don't mind crapping out this time because it's more about getting a feel for the club, but I'll keep in mind your recommendation if I decide I like the place. Burn is classically cheap and good.

I've personally had good experiences with borrowing decks, I've actually made a few good friends that way. Then again, I've occasionally gone to FNMs, and upon learning they are Standar and not draft, borrowed decks from total strangers. I went undefeated twice with that strategy. Good times.
