If Wizards printed a Coyote with an existing creature type, what would that type be?
Wolf 15%  15%  [ 2 ]
Jackal 8%  8%  [ 1 ]
Hound 69%  69%  [ 9 ]
Something else 8%  8%  [ 1 ]

I mean if Jackal got it's own pointless new type instead of being hounds, I imagine Coyotes might too. Or owuld probably get lumped into Jackal.

Why is everybody saying "Hound"? To me, Hound says, "Domesticated" and Coyotes are wild

I think hound would be fine but getting their own type seems more likely. I wouldn't mind giving them the jackal type but it seems super unlikely. I think they have a very different feel in pop culture just because of the cultures of the people in the areas where they live.

I basically think of hound as "canine", at least within MTG. It's more encompassing than wolf or jackal at any rate.

One of the things that irks me to no end is that the feline counterparts to Wolf, Jackal, Hound, Coyote and Werewolf all have the same creature type: Cat.

Cat encompasses all felines since calling things like lions, "big cats" is very common. Hounds should probably just be wolves. Coyotes could be wolf beasts maybe or idk, coyotes.
