I've seen webcomic recommendation threads elsewhere, but I always get overwhelmed and apathetic when confronted with a wall of names and URLs. So, to avoid such a thing, I recommend that people pick a moment that shows the quality/potential of a good webcomic and post it, along with a link to the webcomic itself.
The first 25 pages of Tales of the Questor hooked me. I've been reading ever since, and it's only gotten more and more awesome and readworthy. It's hard to find a single moment that encapsulates everything about why I love it, since most of them span multiple pages, but here's three moments I love for very different reasons.

DM of the Rings was far better, but agreed that Darths and Droids is worth a read. I find it easier to let them build up and just read a whole chapter in one go rather than check in weekly like... literally any other webcomic.

El Goonish Shive has been a fun read so far. Catching up on a decade's worth of strips has been a good time-killer for the last few days. I'm not very far along right now (just hit 2004ish), but it seems like a comic that I could share with some friends of mine.

Rice Boy, on the other hand, is a surreal fairy-tale for adults, and it is finished, so you know you can read the whole thing! I have not yet had the time to read the rest of the author's comics, but I can definitely recommend Rice Boy!
To give you a basic idea of the plot

Now for another recommendation - Ava's Demon. It's a story set in outer space about a girl who's possessed by a demon (or something). To put it mildly they don't get along. But they're going to have to get along if their going to survive/conquer Titan.

Nedroid Picture Diaries is a surreal comedy strip about the nonsense adventures of a bird named Reginald and... whatever Beartato is. A strong contender for my favorite web comic.

When I first saw this thread, I couldn't recall a single comic that just gripped me with a single page. Some days ago I saw this image of String Theory and read through it in two sittings.

I was introduced to Order of the Stick through the F&S crew. Specifically, I saw one page quite far in (for the time; #326 of what is now over 900 pages long) that made me go on an archive binge. The page in question. It of course can be read at GantitP.com
Erfworld was highly entertaining while I read it as well, after I caught up with OOTS, since volume 1 is also on Giant in the Playground. Basic idea: stereotypical D&D nerd (i.e. fat, works at Kinko's or something, way too in to his DMing) is transported into a world that actually has rules of physics like the board games he plays, and he must lead the army that summoned him to battle. I guess I should include a picture (link). ------------------------------------ I do not recall how I got into Go Get a Roomie!; I believe it may have been a banner add from Homestuck. I can't really post an image because most of them are moderately NSFW (Roomie is naked A LOT) and because I'm can't really recall where I got sucked in. The elevator pitch is this: Prohibition-era St. Louis with anthropomorphic cats, where the main characters are running a speakeasy.

Also the first three Acts may need to be powered through because they set the stage, like the first season of Avatar.
KeeperofManyNames recently shared "Our Toyota Was Fantastic" from Bouletcorp; and between that and what's been shown here, I think I've just been sold. It seems so fantastic and fully aware of how to use art style to its benefit.

*I didn't want to say comic book in general because I recently bought V for Vendetta because there was a sale for the 5th of November, I found some recent Magic comics (though didn't really enjoy them), am reading Transmetropolitan which a friend showed me, and bought issues 1-8 of the MLP series (which is the only reason I managed to catch V for Vendetta on sale).
