Does anyone know of any apps that can be used to browse forums (such as, say, this one) via phone without having to use a web browser? I'm on an Android, and have tried searching in the Play store but everything I've found seems to be focused on browsing specific forums, not just forums in general.

Knowledge knows no bounds.

And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real.

Try Opera Classic. Go into the settings and put it in desktop mode. Once you do that most forums are viewable and postable. With a few exceptions like the WotC forums...

Just curious, what's wrong with using the browser/what would you be expecting from an app? Lately I've been using a tablet to do most of my browsing, and it's been surprisingly easy to navigate the forum with it. The only real problem is actually typing lengthier posts, but no app is going to change the fact that physical keyboards are easier to use than virtual ones.

I don't know. I can almost use swipe as fast as my keyboard...

I browse this place on my phone and clicking on some of the links is a pain. Like, say you want to go on page 12 of a topic. Good luck clicking on that tiny link instead of the 11 right next to it!! So it brings me to the 11th page instead of 12th. I go to click on "next" at the top right to move to page 12, but instead it clicks on "next topic"!

This thing is crap for phones. Not sure how an app could help though.

I've grown to automatically pinch to zoom whenever I want to click on something tiny, so I guess I haven't noticed that before :V That does seem a lot more uncomfortable on a phone than on a tablet though, much less screen real estate to work with. I suppose an app would have much larger buttons for changing thread pages, or maybe it would even just load downwards at will, like Twitter or something similar.

I always over-estimate my precision. "Yeah, I can click on that link without zooming, watch me! DOH!"

I've got the slender fingers so my precision is near flawless when posting from my phone.

Filobel covered one problem--the other is the way the browser handles text boxes. It's terrible.

The screen auto-zooms to a specific size which is smaller than the text box itself, so it has to scroll to keep what you're writing in view, but somehow doesn't always realize just where the cursor is, so half the time you're typing you can't see what you're doing, and if you want to check back on what you've written it'll either move your cursor somewhere else or snap back to the cursor. And if you need to change something, trying to get the cursor in the right spot to do so on the first try is almost impossible, and without arrow buttons you need to either keep trying until you finally manage to get it right or get just to the right of it so you can delete some stuff (that you actually wanted) to get to the right place and then retype the stuff you deleted in addition to whatever you wanted to change.
