Would anyone be interested in doing this? Once bun shamelessly spams WotC for traffic, it could be a good festival type thing to get people to come back immediately. And it'd be fun and a nice throwback. |

You know, I believe I actively ignored these at WotC. What were they about? They stopped doing them as I was getting active on the site.... ~SE++ |

I won a title from BunCon on wooden marble 1 and it was fun so we should do it again |

Uncon is amazing, and I'm sad wotc stopped doing it. If the community supports it, we will have UnCon, or some similar event if there are any issues with that name. I would like to support things like custom titles and badges for contest winners, and things of a similar nature for other events in the future. Does anyone recall offhand the traditional dates for UnCon? |

UnCon, I believe, took place during the summer because most people are out of school at that time and have more free time. But I could be misremembering. We could call ours GobCon (short for Goblin Convention). [UnCon actually stood for Unconventional Convention.] |

For some reason I thought it always happened in the fall. Hence why I was never able to participate much. |

Hmmm... that actually does seem to jog some cobwebs from my mind... |

UnCon was traditionally in the fall. In fact we have about two weeks until it 'would' be due. |

I'd be up for participating in/helping organize an UnCon, I assume we'd have slightly less tangible prizes than the WotC ones did though. |

We could probably swing some pretty sweet prizes. |

This could be really fun. It would be a good way to get YMtC started, too. (Though maybe we want to wait until mana tags are implemented before lots of serious contests happen.) |

Expect to see [mc] tags by tomorrow. In the meantime, we have the smilie versions, though the forced spacing between them is ugly. I'll try to fix that too. |

Yeah, but within tags and without spaces so they look a bit cleaner and are easier to execute. GobO_Welder wrote: Expect to see [mc] tags by tomorrow. Excellent!

If enough people are interested in this, we will set a date. I want this to be organized by the community, and we will do what we can to support it. Here is a list of what we need: A list of people willing to run/judge contests. Staff are welcome to volunteer for this as well. I can also commit to running a number of quick daily contests as well, with random prizes tba. |

I was never told if everyone got their prizes from the last UnCon. Organizing that was such a mess: Mike wanted me to create a list of what I thought everyone should get, then told me that my list was ill-informed without really ever giving me parameters other than "We got a lot of Hasbro product laying around". Then he got tossed and Solace made it way easier, but I still don't know if all the winners got their prizes. Such a shame. I sometimes feel like the problem with prizes specific to that running of UnCon was what killed it. Probably taking too much credit for myself. Anyway, I've got an endless supply of books to use as prizes and would love to help out in whatever way we see fit. Figuring out what time of year to do it seems like one of the more important things to nail down. I'm not sure if it's a good way to bolster a still-fresh community. |
