Favorite series: Hard to tell, since I don't read that much series. Probably Harry Potter or Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.

Nothing, I'm a lousy reader Hope to pick up ASoIaF up before season four of GoT starts though, and I've got Oryx and Crake/The Year of the Flood sitting in a corner, crying and waiting for me to read them.

Stop what you're doing, locate the nearest copy of A Game of Thrones, and read it from cover to cover. I must share the misery of waiting for The Winds of Winter by any means necessary.

I hope GRRM learned his lesson about trying to give people a ballpark idea of how close to completion and publication the next book is. His overly-optimistic comments over the course of A Dance With Dragon's writing made the wait all the worse when the delays hit.

I have a copy, on the shelf, less than three feet away. I've started to read it a few times... but probably just need to snag for my kindle for reading in the airport or when i have a moment.

But like I said I have a list of books backed up, a two cars that need fixing, D&D games to run, and work never stops hehYeah, I quite enjoyed the movie several times. But I've also enjoyed his other books and want to give it a read.

If you liked the movie, you'll probably like the book as well.

Currently reading: Re-reading Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane. His writing is just... beautiful. The first chapter of this book is some of the best melancholic prose I can remember.

Favorite book: Ahahaha, yeah right.

Favorite series: Nng. So much of what I read is part of a series, and it's already so hard to choose. Discworld has some incredible books ( Night Watch) but a few duds as well; Stross's Laundry Files is hilarious if you fit into the target niche; Butcher's Codex Alera is pretty fine. The Dark Tower also gets a mention, for being weird and meta and fun. I guess my current top-of-the-list is Jasper Fforde's "Thursday Next" series, a strange and hilarious series set in an alternate 1980s where literary gangs roam the streets and cheese is taxed at 800%.

FINALLY finished reading The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I thought his writing was very subpar the whole way through, and while I greatly enjoyed parts of the story, I didn't feel like it was all that well plotted, and the payoff was grossly underwhelming. (Which is a theme in the book, but it still didn't work out well.)

It's often hard to decide on what next to read when you have an entire book store staring you in the face every day, but I decided to snag a copy of Ender's Game so I can go into the movie having read it.

Currently Reading: Diaspora by Greg Egan. Any other Greg Egan fans? It's one of my favourite books, although I recognize that literarily it has many weaknesses.

I've got a The Dresden Files book (the fourth, I think) on the back-burner, ready to switch to it when I'm in the mood for some less heavy reading. (I often have two books on the go, for when my interest in one of them wanes.)

Currently reading:The Warlord's Legacy (by Ari Marmell); I'm somewhere in the middle of the Icewind Dale Trilogy (by R.A. Salvatore); Transmetropolitan (by Warren Ellis (writing) and Darick Robertson (penciling) ( Homestuck (by Andrew Hussie); Mort Takes a Holiday (by AnonymousMaterials); A Still More Glorious Dawn Awaits (by CDRW); and if I really want to get technical, Radiographic Positioning And Related Anatomy (by a bunch of official people) and Radiation Protection In Medical Radiography (by another bunch of official people).

Favorite Book: It changes from time to time; currently it's Past Sins by Pen Stroke, but it's only taken the title for two and 1/2 reasons: 1. I can't quite remember how good the Conqueror's Shadow by Ari Marmell was anymore (it's been probably two years since I read it); and 2. It's the most recent "really good book" I've had the time to read, otherwise it would be Hammered by Kevin Hearne. The 1/2 is because there is roughly a 100% chance that The Warlord's Legacy will take the title once I'm done with it.

*Basically anything I've read by Ari Marmell has instantly sold me on whatever the series.

I just had to say how karmically appropriate that is.

I feel like I've been missing out because I've never really read a Neil Gaiman book, though I keep hearing about how nice his writing is. I started one of his once (I can't remember which one it was) but the plot didn't really hook me and I lost steam.

You just reminded me of this work, about which I recently heard good things about from some other critics I find credible. I think they emphasized very interesting use of metaphor/dual meaning, and that it wasn't too long, which could be useful when trying to develop an appreciation for a new author. I need to remember to give this a shot.
