Now, I don't want to offend anybody, and this is not in reguards to anyone on the site (who actually use the term well and the way it is intended), but in my area it's just something people I meet in real life say in order to be annoying. Especially when trolling people. I know it's supposed to mean "you only live once", but when it's stuck at the end of every single sentence someone says when you know they are directly trying to troll you........

There is only so many times you can hear blah blah blah YOLO before it drives you nuts. My friends use it the same way people on the internet use "jejejejejejejeje".

The only people I know that use #yolo use it ironically. It's the slogan tee of hipster vernacular.

It's the internet equivalent of what I would type at the end of every single sentence if I wanted to piss people off. Hypothetically speaking

Yolo is an excuse for stupid people to do stupid things. When people say this I hope their stupid actions causes their demise.

As far as I understand, YOLO means trying to experience life, and not turn down the opportunities present to you. You only have this life, so make the best of it.
It also means "Hey look at me I'm so craaazy xD"

Denotation - Let's live life to the fullest.

Connotation - Let's be annoying and trollolololol. OR Let's do something stupid.

I really only see yolo used for two reasons ever: 1. people saying it in a silly and/or ironic way and 2. people complaining about it and how it's the ruin of this generation or some **** even though "carpe diem" and similar phrases or attitudes have been around forever and I guess the difference this time is a black guy said it.

See, the ironic thing about carpet diem is, it was originally used to mean "enjoy today, and do not trust the future to be nice, so think ahead and make it nice."
To me, yolo means you are in a semi-fragile meatbag, try to keep it together while experiencing the phenomenal thing that is living.
If you yolo your way to an early grave, chances are, I will have more and better life experiences.

Does anyone else find abreviations like this slightly annoying in general? Like you know SMH and IMHO and LOL and others? It just feels like we are dumbing down the english language.
