I can't stand to see such self-depreciation. I'm far too positive of a person to allow that!

Whenever I'm feeling down on the dumps, I remember a phrase; "This too shall pass."

It's a great phrase. No matter how bad you feel, remember that this feeling is transitory.

I wasn't joking - I do mean that. And I've suffered with suicidal thoughts before, but got through them. Sometimes I have no idea how, because my life was ****. I only stopped myself because my best friend and I had spoken with each other as we were growing up that "Suicide is for cowards", and I didn't want to be a coward. It was tougher, but more respectable, to live on in the face of adversity, crisis, and depression than it was to end it.

But I got through it, and channelled this positive energy that now flows so freely from me.

if it's anything like the divine comedy's version of suicide hell i don't want to be there lol
also for the record i've been hospitalized in psychiatric facilities for attempted suicide but one of the ways i find easiest to cope with it is to joke about it. obviously it sucks if somebody kills themselves or if they are going through something really difficult, but unless you're experiencing that right now at this moment, i'll probably joke about it.

I'm still distressed from my last relationship where he would threaten to kill himself every other day and I had to repeatedly try and provide value to his life while he reminded me of how I failed him for not being able to help . I know i should be over it and I mostly am but i'm very susceptible to that and really cared for him and took it all very personally.

Sounds like me from earlier in the year. If it makes you feel any better, he probably feels like a complete **** for acting that way and blames himself for everything. That's how it's been for me.

Aw, that's too bad. Just remember it's up to the individual to change himself. You're not at fault because he was the only one who could make himself better (like I've made myself better).
