I wish real world physics worked that way.

But we have a little thing called gravity. What a pain!

Anyway, I guess you can make your own judgment, but the point was to not watch Rail Wars. It is a bad harem with an amassment of tropes. You have to appreciate it's terribleness to enjoy it.

Uhm... I think I've actually seen real chests bounce like that. Not quite that large, mind you, but yeah. Also, I'd be casting a wary eye toward any show that not only did that bouncy thing, but then zoomed in on top of it.

I kinda wish that wasn't a GIF because I want to take some measurements here. No not because I'm a massive pervert but I'm pretty sure her entire build is physically impossible. I mean I know anime takes liberties with these things but come the carp on!

Seems fair. Rail Wars is off the queue.

Finished Shiki.

I will give a 7. Really slow and bad at the beginning, later it gets better, but never too good and the damage is already done. A severe pacing problem in my opinion. I understand that in part is because of the atmosphere, but they could manage the time a lot better. In the end it feels rushed.

Still it is a different anime and deserves some credit for that.

Decided to watch Blue Exorcist.

IMDB keep offering it for me and I finally decided to read about it. It is a shounen anime with some good reviews, that doesn't break any new ground but it is expertly crafted. That is what the reviews say.

Let's see if IMDB is right!

My advice to you is to stick with it for at least 5 episodes, because I very nearly quit because of the introductory 3 episodes, but it picked up and became more interesting after that.

It has all the problems a shounen have being focused at a younger audience, but it is actually good. It reminds me a lot of Fullmetal Alchemist: Botherhood.

If by younger audience, you mean less than 13, then I have no idea where that is coming from. There is some really dark **** in there.

I imagine he means the usual shounen age group of teenagers. I usually have 13-to-18-year-olds in mind when the age demographic for shounen is brought up.

That said, I generally ignore that idea when I watch anime and try to think more along the lines of whether the show can deliver on its own premises.

Precisely. I also try to ignore them, but sometimes it is just not possible, when they overuse the same tropes or focus on teenage problems. Not saying that this is exactly the case here.

I never said I disagreed with you. A lot of shounen anime fall into the same tired action tropes that summer blockbusters do, making them below average at best (like Claymore), simply boring (like Vandread), or sometimes painful to watch (like Attack on Titan or Sword Art Online).

As for Blue Exorcist, I think while it does hit on a lot of those same tropes, I think it avoids the worst of them and subverts just enough to make it entertaining. I also think it has strong enough characters (after the first three episodes) to carry it. Eventually I need to go watch what I had missed of that show...

Finished Texhnolyze. This a tough one to grade. In some ways I liked it a lot, in others I hated it. Overall I liked it more than not. I believe an 8 is a fair grade. Absolutely hated the end, not because it should not happen, just the way it happened.

It is very slow, but really well done for an atmospheric purpose. It enervates you in a great way. ;)

Also the first half of the series is much better than the second half. But I only understood his motivation at the second half.

Due to being half out-of-my-head today (drifting in and out of sleep due to being sick), I watched the rest of Akame ga Kill!. Sweet baby troll jegus no one told me that the show itself thought it was a dating sim like I thought it was. I couldn't help but notice that the art/animation in the latter half was kind of lacking compared to the first half.

Also, there are two things from the Glass Reflections review that I want to mention: one, that I am not the only one who thought Akame ga Kill! was heavily influenced by Gurren Lagann; and two, from here on out I am going to refer to general Esdeath as Tits McFrostqueen.

I'm not sure I see any strong parallels between AkG and GL, and I'm not sure about the dating sim tag either. It certainly has some harem undertones, but it isn't even tagged as romance.

I already said this about Akame ga Kill! and dating sims:
The thing I think I most want to say is that I had the epiphany that the protagonist group feels like they'd be perfect for a dating sim. You've got the catgirl who uses her sexuality, the stoic non-emotional quiet one, the clutzy bimbo with glasses, the Adonis gay man, the mega-bitch (I love the term Hunie Pop gave me), the mysterious and bad-ass boss, and... I dunno, do dating sims usually have a datable perverted guy in them? The setup was working perfectly up until the RPG elements forced the roster to change.

And it seemed to just keep getting worse as it went on.

As for the Gurren Lagann similarities, I found aesthetic similarities as well as thematic ones. In the early episodes weird things were done with capes that made me disappointed that the Team Dai-Gurren logo wasn't on them, and the weird art shifts during the kills in the first half reminded me of similar things done in TTGL, and then Justice Girl gets that giant drill-arm in the latter half of the series. As far as thematic similarities, Mister Main Character seems to be motivated and powered by the same feelings of MANPOWER + MUST PROTECT EVERYONE that Simon did, and add to that how eerily close some scenes came to his bro Bulat telling him to "believe in the you that believes in you".

EDIT: corrected the broken quote which I just noticed.

I was looking for a good horror anime. And I found Higurashi When They Cry at many lists, so I started to watch it. It says it is based on a bishoujo game and that any horror anime list must have it. At first episode it looks like almost as a harem anime, but also that there is something other than that.

So far not good, l hope it improves.

Higurashi no naku kor ni (lit. trans. "when cicadas cry", localized "when they cry") is a mixed bag as far as I'm concerned. The animation is rather poor, the voice acting isn't great in either dub or sub, but it will likely stick with you for a long while. It's got a very strange sense of storytelling that might throw you when you first watch it. Considering you're only on the first episode, nobody's died yet. There are a LOT of unsolved mysteries during the first arc. I really like the show and I hope you end up doing so, too.

The first impression is really bad. Luckily I don't care for animation or voice acting, although I prefer the good looking ones.

Based on the first impression, I would have quit. Only the reviews are holding me back. Sincerely I hope it improves.
