Soon, very soooon... :plot:

I was kind of shocked when I first realized that Quebec and New Brunswick actually shared a significant land border with the US--I'd never really paid any attention to that part of the map before since I'm at the other end of the country, and the whole Niagara Falls half-in-Canada-half-in-the-States bit sort of got me used to thinking of the St. Laurence as the dividing line between us. Which is obviously stupid when you give it any thought because Montréal is firmly Canadian and straddles the bloody thing and you can plainly see the mouth of the St. Laurence being firmly in Quebec on any map, but your brain makes strange assumptions sometimes. I don't know what I thought of New Brunswick--maybe that it was some kind of peninsula? Whatever I thought I'm sure it made no sense.

But anyway, I'm in BC; lived here all my life, though I've moved around a bunch within it. Currently living in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.

Knowledge knows no bounds.

And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real.

Cool. Are you a MTG or D&D player?
I'm up a couple miles outside of West Alton, between the rivers in St. Charles County.
Where are you?

mtg

right now chesterfield

do u go to the fantasy shop we might secretly know each other

I've been to the one in St. Charles a few time and the one in south county once.
I've never played there. I inherited a bunch of cards I've built some decks out of but all of them would fall under Legacy or Vintage but aren't loaded with "daddy's money" cards so I doubt they would be too competitive.
Went over St. Charles a few months ago for some swamps and the dude gave me like 500 basic land of all colors for free.
That was pretty sweet.
Chesterfield is pretty sweet also. Years ago I worked at the Casa Gallardo up by the mall on my journey to chefdom.

Pretty much all of America has "some racial history." The difference is when I moved up north I started hearing about the south's racism from northerners who didn't even know TX has a coast. I feel like there's more of a racial dialogue in the south than up north. Also. Damn yankees.

Man, I'm grumpy today! Sorry folks.

At least Austin got the honor of holding the new US Grand Prix.
Missed out on the extra funds to attend this year again.
Shooting for next year.

Wow, 3 countries with 3 different languages, and you manage to speak English on these boards too.

Also, what was Iran like?

The Texas education system was the testing ground for No Child Left Behind, what did you expect?

Getting into a "north vs. south" argument is really pointless. But at least you're confirming why some yankees annoy me, since your response to "don't tell me the south is more racist than the north when you live in a city where there's a neighborhood specifically for every race and color and sometimes religion" is "new england is less racist than the south." Like, no ****, but I just basically said I hated it when yankees spouted off about it. It's one of the reasons I moved. You think I don't know?

Actually no. The head of education pushed for no child left behind after implementing it in Texas. :teach:

I never spouted off about it. You brought it up and I countered.
And sorry, the south has a history of racism. That doesn't just disappear
No one in the north thinks "oh everyone in the south is in the KKK"

I've heard that Farsi is a difficult language to pick up.

زبان فارسى بسيار آسان است

But then again, I speak Dari not Farsi, so some may have differing opinions...but they are super similar mostly vocab differences and a few pronunciation changes. For instance in persent tense verb conjugation Farsi tends to pronounce the prefix like "mee" whereas Dari tends to lean towards "may". And Farsi's letter V is Dari's letter W. A good chunk of English speakers dont grasp the verb at the end of the sentence thing very well or the way nouns and adjectives fit, but for anyone who's dabbled in spanish you'll see similarity.

Instead of saying "I went to my red car" the sentence would be written as "I to my car-red did-go". But once you start getting better with the verb conjugation you'll find that since the verb changes based on person and tense, that you dont even need to say the 'I' at the beginning of the sentence, because the verb is in the first person past tense. So it'd actually be more like "to car(mine)-red did-go(me)"

*shrug*

If you want an awesome language to learn, check out Korean though. The most organized and easy language that I've started learning yet.

Sigh...
I started learning German and Russian when I was in the gifted program in grade school but did not pursue it.
Wish I would have. I'm 45 now and doubt I have it in me to learn another language.

I think he meant spanish *shrug*

I aced Spanish in highschool, cant speak a word of it now. Every time I try to speak any Spanish I accidentally mix in Dari because my brain shortcuts to the fastest thing.

I didn't know that. Guess that made like three of us on the old forum then. With any luck there will be enough of us here to take over and brutally enforce a cruel regime of tyrannical dictatorship have a proper tea time. Totally the second thing I said.
