especially ogre's video, in which the only bad word was "****" (I'm assuming no one cares about the word "dick".)

and I mean dunkey is an established figure in the league of legends community so like, his videos aren't just some random crap

From the CoC
Quote:
Dealing with the moderators

1) We appreciate that sometimes you will disagree with a moderator's decision, or feel that a request from a moderator is unfair or unjustified. We're not going to be able to keep everyone happy all of the time, so we settle for trying to keep most people happy most of the time. Whether or not you agree with a moderator's stance, we do expect you to abide by their decisions and requests.

How an appeal works :
If you believe a moderator has acted unjustly or unfairly, we encourage you to send a private message to either GobO_Fire or GobO_Althalus and they will handle it from it. Any moderator action can only be appealed by someone directly affected by the mod action.

Please don't dodge the filters.

hey mods, you should try adding some light-hearted humor to your posts here and there

or compliment people

or something so people can like you and feel good about you and not hate you and dread every time you post

I'm gonna ask folks to be patient with us on this one for a few moments. It's under discussion, and we should have an answer - and clearer policy for going forward - within 24 hours or so (maybe sooner, just hedging my bet). Thanks in advance.

I like your avatar. :thbbbt:

Better? :P

On a serious note: yes, it is being discussed. No, we won't give you details. Yes, we'll let you know the final decision.

so I thought the planning forum was in place to prevent dumb **** like this from happening

The planning forum prevented a lot of dumb ****. We can plan for every eventuality.

Seriously, please give us 24 hours or so. This will get fixed in a positive way, I believe, and it'll be a big learning opportunity for the staff.

Mistakes still happen. The difference between here & WotC is that we'll actually admit it.

Let's stop that right now before it even starts. Everyone is welcome here.

Second, I would hardly call this dumb. No ones in trouble. We are just sorting things out. We want a fun environment as well as a safe and healthy one. I don't think the post in question was malicious, nor was the mod action. I think anyone can see both were innocent. And we are discussing it to decide the best way to go about it.

All right, so here's the deal.

We don't want profanity being posted here. We're perfectly fine with people posting links to content that includes some profanity (though marking it as such would be really really nice--please do so in future, and if you don't we reserve the right to add warnings in for you)...but there does need to be relevant content there as well. The link that was originally posted had no such real content--it was basically just one long string of profanity. And without any other legitimate content...there's not much difference between posting a link to it and posting it straight.

It's the difference between linking to a news article that happens to contain a few profane terms versus linking to a page that's just various swears repeated endlessly. The purpose of the first would be the article. The swears are incidental, and that's fine--posting a news article for discussion? Awesome. The purpose of the second could only be the profanity itself. Not fine.

As such, the first post was edited to remove the profanity...but if the first video isn't there, the the second video is suddenly a response to something that no longer exists, which seems bad. So it was removed as well. It might not have been done the way I personally would have done it, but the underlying logic was sound.

Given that after editing, the two posts are now effectively contentless, I've now just removed both entirely for the sake of tidiness.

To be honest, all of the dumb stuff that was prevented by planning isn't something you will notice. It's like the anthropic principle of screw-ups.

I said in the thread that jelly made that I wasn't mad that you removed my video. I am a little mad now that you said it had no content, since you clearly do not understand anything about the video. The whole joke about the guy being mad about the champion "singed" is that he does not appear at all in the video so it is funny. He swears a lot but it's not contentless.

No one has yet to explain to me why ogre's video was removed though

His was removed because it was posted as a reply to yours. Without your video to provide context, his video looked a bit silly hanging out there by itself. That's why it was removed. *shrug* Some will agree with that and others won't. And that's OK.
