So perhaps a bit late to the party, but this could be an easy way of keeping track of rate of posts, member growth, etc.

While I understand the purpose of this thread I don't really think its a posting game, and would most likely be more at home in the Meta Board, so I will be moving it there shortly.

Also, when creating games here in the PbP area, please adhere to the topic tags in thread titles as outlined in the guide and as seen on all the other threads in this area.

Thanks,

~Sapper

2.59% of all posts / 17.46 posts per day

I think you are not quite addicted enough.

We're growing at a fairly decent clip.

We'll almost definitely hit 40k by the end of the week. Then onto 50k, a milestone that matters!

This thread has had posts removed and has now been unlocked.

When the thread was moved from the Play-By-Post area because while similar it is more Meta (self referential) in nature. When it was moved here I was unaware a similar thread had recently been closed. Currently I see now issues with this social experiment and will discuss with site admin regarding its staying open.

With that being said, the thread does has a topic please keep posts related to that topic, and if you dont like the thread or dont see the point then you need not post here. Any questions can be directed to me via PM, and those who had content removed will be receiving notice shortly.

Thanks,

~Sapper

I'm closing this thread, as it ultimately doesn't add anything, and the metaboard is designed primarily to answer user questions and resolve issues related to the forum.

Alright, after some discussion - and sleep - we're going to re-open this. It'll remain here on the metaboard, as it is ultimately a thread providing information about the forum, not a game. However, please keep in mind that the thread will be about the forum stats, not your individual post counts / percentage of posts made in place X / etc. For an example, the copy/paste by tony3 and TPmanW right above Admin's post is a good example of what to include.

Next, no more than one post per day updating stats. Seeing how the site grows over time is interesting, spamming with hourly updates is too much. Even a daily post may not be all that revealing, but it's certainly better than more frequent updates.

Finally, tony - would you be willing to keep a running tally in your first post? So that when updates are shared, you grab 'em and add them into a table, so it's easier to see at a glance? Just an idea...

edit: helps if I actually close my tags and, you know, unlock the thread. :roll:

52327 posts, 391 members

16310 posts by top 10 (31.17%)
21231 posts by top 15 (30.57%)
25500 posts by top 20 (48.73%)
28840 posts by top 25 (55.11%)

25 = 6.39%
20 = 5.12%
15 = 3.84%
10 = 2.56%

So 6% of the member population account for over half of the posts.

There are roughly 250 "dead" accounts that have 33 or less posts. That's roughly 62.5% of the members.

Keep in mind that a large number of users regularly read the forums but post very little, and some percentage of those don't even have accounts, and read the forums as guests.

Right now there are 32 users online, and 14 are guests. This is about the number I usually see, and I am usually online from 6pm to 6am CST. The most users ever online was 63, but that was on December 3rd. I've seen the "most users ever online" number increase roughly every one or two weeks since we've gone live.

Definitely we can expect a certain number of members to create an account, make few (or no) posts, and then leave forever, but I think this is a tiny minority.

Also, of the current guests three are currently search engine bots so the majority of the current guests viewing are people.
