No, I'm not kidding. No really. Really. You have to see this for yourself.

Also Ethan Fleischer described NGA and Salvation as "the two big storyline communities" on twitter the other day, and WotC has stopped providing a link to the forums below the articles. So uh... pretty sure this means the Mothership is officially dead and we are the true successor now.

That's... wow. I mean... I'm happy that we're doing so well, relatively, but it's also really weird to see how completely the old forums have fallen apart. I never expected Matt Holck to be holding the community together. It looks like it's going... about as well as could be expected.

Wow.

Probably worthwhile to provide a link. That's pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

The only real reaction I can think of is

Maybe what we need is to make an adaptation of the Google Zeitgeist 2011 video.

he doesn't say anything like "the two big storyline communities" in that. he sort of acknowledges its existence.

Well, there is the fact that he's now an NGA member.

Not so much "in charge of" so much as "who has started".

And so people say to me, "How do I know if a word is real?" You know, anyone who's read a children's book knows that love makes things real. If you love a word, use it! That makes it real. Being in the dictionary is an artificial distinction; it doesn't make the word any more real than any other word. If you love a word, it becomes real.

if no one else is doing it I think that counts.

Feeling nostalgic, I mean to visit the WotC community a couple of days ago and realized it's pretty much completely dead. Could hardly believe it. :-(
I don't understand why they let that happen.
Makes me quite sad.

Not really. "In charge" implies that someone has given him responsibility.

eh, feels needlessly nitpicky. context made the intended meaning pretty clear, far as I can tell.

Yeah de facto vs de jure is a thing. And like... dude is clearly de facto in charge because everything else is a horrible empty wasteland.

A horrible empty wasteland populated like 50% by Matt Holck.

HE'S GROWING STRONGER.

I mean I'm not kidding there's some boards where his icon is all over the place because he's the only person replying regularly to stuff. It's like him and four or five other people in some boards, or less. So I guess we know now why he never made the transition over to this board: he basically has the run of the old board now.

@razorborne:

Semantic arguments are super tedious but I dunno this is the more specific thing I was referencing https://twitter.com/EthanFleischer/stat ... 3719630848 and in context the implication is that we are one of the two important storyline forums. [shrug]

Kinda disappointing that the answer to his question is that no there really is nowhere else that important anymore :/ It's pretty much just us and Salvation now that phyrexia.com and the motherboard are dead... For whatever reason Gathering Magic doesn't seem to be able to sustain a storyline community the way we and Salvation have. Not sure why since Ant is doing good work over there.

Such bitter-sweetness.

wasn't trying to start a semantic argument, it's just that tweet wasn't in the link Luna posted so I didn't see it. that definitely seems to be what he was saying there.

Huh ok. Weird, that post was a part of that comment thread when the conversation was happening >_>

I don't get twitter. Sometimes it behaves in very arbitrary ways.

Also for the record while Matt isn't officially in charge he apparently wants to be. I hope they bring him on staff honestly. It can't make things worse at this point.

Reading the Board Business forum is kind of perversely entertaining. It's like watching an entire civilization whose gods have suddenly just vanished completely.

yeah, I was confused about how much of a deal you were making about it as the only mention I could find of it was Thoctar's hashtag, and Ethan @'d him but seemed to be replying to Mike. anyway, neat, grats on the nod.

I was expecting this forum to die after a year due to a lack of new users and in the meantime WotC making the official forum usable again...

I honestly was expecting them to eventually fix the horrible structural flaws, yeah. Not like... make them worse. Which is what they seem to have done.

But on the other hand I didn't expect the D&D crowd to stay resolutely glued to their totally broken forums. Anyone know what THAT'S about? Like the magic forums are totally depopulated but it seems like the D&D boards are really active.
