Is this happening? i still think it'd be a lot of fun and good for the forum. At least in my vision of the festival, every poster would be involved in at least one thing. I'd also be willing to put up some money cards possibly if others are. Could be a nice draw for new posters. |

I know I had someone clarify this when it came up before, but would you mind explaining UnCon to someone who joined the motherboard long after UnCon died? Preferably in a "how it would go down on these boards" way. |

UnCon was an online gaming convention. The name stood for Unconventional Convention (as I recall). It typically ran for a week, during which time there would be events throughout the site. There were special chat rooms set up with game designers and authors; there were contests and games; there were designer Q&A threads; and so on. In a lot of cases, the games took you through various other places of the board that you might not normally visit. For example, one year the play-by-post GMs set up a massive scavenger hunt where the list contained one or two items unique to the specific pbp forum. The idea was to get members of different pbp groups (Castle of Fun, Px2, etc) looking at the content in the other areas, and maybe they would find something else they enjoyed. On the D&D side, there were often "easy" contests, such as "design a feat" that took very little time to enter. There were also more involved contests, such as the Char Ops board running a "best character" contest. Others can speak as to what went on over on the Magic side. We obviously can't really get the designer or author access WotC could (though you have me - that's better, right? *crickets* - and you have Zammmmm as a magic judge) but we can certainly put together games, contests, etc. |

Heh, had a random idea to run an "Arena" in the Play by Post area for Un-Con and have players duke it out among themselves with extra traps and minions thrown in for chaos... nah, bad idea. ~SE++ |

I was actually just discussing this with someone. I know there is a Bloodsand Arena module I could borrow from, and a few other sources as well. But I had considered taking the players from the KotS game and having a practice combat area so that we can work on basic stuff and not to mention it would be good DM practice for me, which lead me to thinking that we could manage some sort of "survive the waves" area ...or if nothing else like 3v3 player vs player. |

Smoke_stack is usually the nom de plume of Igor Kieryluk. So there's at least one Magic artist that's aware of our presence. Plus Pete Venters seems to actively try to bring Magic fans good stuff and... I'm not really sure because I never really visited the Art side of the old forums. Magic authors Ari Marmell and Laura Resnik occasionally stopped by the mothership, as well; and Ari (whom doesn't like being called Mr. Marmell) seems like the kind of person that wouldn't mind joining in on something like this, though I'm just speculating on that point. He is just really nice is my point.------------------------------------------- shadyphoenix wrote: vintage tournament no items fox only final destination go What. If we're going to do some sort of play by post games... It might be cool to get together a few Archenemy games in the magic section. It's one of those formats that are seriously fun, but SO hard to set up as a physical game. They require at least one person with an archenemy deck and at least 3 other people who want to take part at the time. |

A tournament for every single format would be a bit much, though, so one to two actual constructed events plus maybe one or two bizarre Not-UnCon only formats like every card name must start with at least one of each of the letters of the alphabet highlander. |

I'm down for at least one magic tournament. I need to set up a donate button for anyone who wants to donate cash rather than prizes, but even if I don't get it set up in time, I can offer at least a box or something. |

For me winning a box of cards would be cool but I'd rather have something fun. I've always liked altered cards by friends and stuff so I think it would be cool to have something truly unique to remember. Like giving away my Joven's Ferrets or other silly things. |

I can def give away signed (or not, your choice) cards if peeps are interested, too. I'll totes trade John a delta for a signed apac island! And lol, Ko. I do wanna give out buttons for uncon winners, but I haven't worked that out yet, so it'd be an IOU + maybe a custom title. |

haha that's so lame Hard for me to part with one now that they're worth $20 each and I only have three. Can I downgrade to Kamigawa islands? I could even do an Italian Oboro! |
