Another possible thing that I don't think would take too much effort but that probably would only be sustainable for a couple of months:

Tools of the Trade: what programs do people use to produce stuff for NGA, and how do you get into them? Not like lengthy tutorials (although that might not be a bad idea) but just brief profiles of programs and overviews of how to get started. I've been meaning to do this anyway for the open source programs I use to produce stuff for M:EM (Krita, Sigil, Libre Office...) and I think particularly in the case of free and open source software it'd be great to sort of make that stuff more widely accessible. Just an overview of how you make custom cards for Cockatrice/LackeyCCG would be awesome actually.

Fair enough re: Johnny. I don't think it's terribly confusing to the point of biasing things too dramatically but it's a valid concern.

Good point... we do have quite a bit of time to get stuff together. Which is good for anything I'm involved with since I am as slow as a rocket powered turbo slug with the rocket taken off. So. A slug. I guess. But yeah coordination shouldn't be too bad with that much time to work with. Wow, kinda cool and scary at the same time that we're basically at the point where thinking on the timescales that WotC thinks in is not only viable but maybe essential... and this from a largely decentralized project too o_o

Here's another broad question: how will this be integrated with social media? Like, will we have an official tumblr and twitter? On the one hand I think it's a good idea. On the other hand I know from experience that it's a hell of a lot of work. [dejectedly kicks the M:EM tumblr; is immediately enveloped in a cloud of dust]

And for the record I still think Lick the Cardstock is a great name with a great tradition and you're all fools for not immediately jumping on board with this idea

I thought of that, but decided against it because I think having instantly understandable article names is more important than callbacks and in-jokes.

I believe squinty_eyes has expressed interest in running the Deck Challenge.

Campaign Chronicles is best done by the respective GMs or players. I'm sure they could set up a rotating schedule where each week focuses on a different campaign.

I'm not sure what interest there would be for Tools of the Trade, but assuming we go with a blog format, there's no harm in having those posts up.

I don't know if it would be good to have an official tumblr or twitter. On one hand, it adds to our potential exposure dramatically. On the other hand, it sounds like a pain to maintain in the long term. Maybe Welder can figure out how to automatically tweet every time the front page updates with new content?

I wanted to suggest using my Lyssia Crutoriae story and then immediately dropped the idea because I was given that project something like 6 or 7 years ago and am just finishing chapter 2 now.

Actually, I've been meaning to for a while to convert Seasons of Dusk into a complete thread in the Archives, with a clickable Table of Contents and everything. I should probably go work on that.

As of this instant, I am unaware of any plans to branch out to other social media platforms. A Twitter account tweeting links to new articles as they go up could be nice, but I don't want to be in charge of it and I suspect no one else does either. I'm not sure what we'd do with a Tumblr.

For the record, though, I believe we do have an official Twitter account. If I recall correctly, Sapper set it up a while back. It's completely dead, but you can find it here.

While I expect the writing to be done by those people, I need someone who's in charge of the overall system. A rotation seems best, and whoever is in charge can set that up and maintain it, but I need a Czar.

Basically, my plan right now is to make a usergroup out of the Content Czars and give that usergroup permission to post articles. They would then receive submissions, and post one each week. In that scenario, I would need someone who is the actual person responsible for posting the Campaign Chronicles, regardless of whether they were the one writing that particular week.

Note, by the way, that just because that is my current plan doesn't mean that it's the final system, as other technological or moderation concerns may prevent us from enacting it as-is, but, no matter what the exact details are, having one person who is in charge of organizing that area of content seems like the best available approach. That way the decisions are being made by people within the relevant community, and issues can be sorted out there. Of course, particularly serious or recurring issues can be brought to me and the moderation team, and if necessary we can remove and replace the Czars, but keeping as much control as possible inside the relevant communities should help prevent the need for such measures.

Understood. We'll refer to it as a weekly decklist for now as a placeholder, but whatever you folks believe will best represent and promote your community should be alright.

I went for it. At the very least, it'll be an experiment to see if people are interested.

The use of Tumblr would be exposure basically. I'm pretty sure a sizeable portion of the traffic in M:EM has come from Tumblr, though we've had less luck getting permanent readers that way. I think it's a platform much better suited to promoting articles than Twitter to be honest. I know for my own blog I find it much easier to get traffic that way than with Twitter.

Mmhm, I remembered making that post, but I feel like each thing deserves maybe a bit more explanation and a bit more visibility. Who knows, though. It basically depends on how many people are new to the forums and want to get involved creatively but don't know how to.

Also if you didn't keep deleting your quite serviceable first chapter, you'd probably have arrived at chapter 2 sooner I dunno, I haven't given up hope yet that that story will be finished and turned into something we can serialize. I believe in you.

If this is gonna be a thing, I will start making play through videos, mostly for limited formats.
