for future reference, you can also use the "report post" feature for this sort of stuff. Just indicate in the comments that it's an accidental duplicate thread that you'd like to get deleted.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the tip.

Somehow I missed some things in this thread a few weeks ago despite getting an email every time there is a new post. Sorry about that!

Okay, let's state intent, rather than discussing functionality:
I want to know when there's a new post to a forum section I have visited, without having to mark every post as read each time I visit.

Translating this back to functionality... you would like an indicator on the index page saying whether a new post has been made in a given forum since the last time you visited that forum? There is not a quick-and-easy way to do this, unfortunately, which likely means it will not be done quickly.

And going waaaaay back, I asked the phpbb mod developer community about adding "X new posts" labels on each thread with new posts, like we had back at WotC. The responses were a combination of "I have no idea how to do that" and "Why would you want to do that?"

Lastly, on dice: I now know exactly why dice don't work in the topic review. Unfortunately this does not translate to knowing exactly how to fix it. Yet. ;)

A personal post area thing on your profile or some sort of blog system in the far future for projects that don't deserve their own threads. This would probably go with the new frontpage if that ever happens.

Hmmm...

Actually, having some sort of private text builder in the NGA framework (by which I mean the combination forums, front page, and wiki) may prove useful in the future. If for no other reason than to be able to easily format in the proper way for the forums/wiki (assuming they will use the same formatting tags). Personally, I would peg it as "something to do once we have a front page and/or wiki", but I tend to keep copies of everything I make on my computer or external hard drive, so I write things out in either Notepad or Word.

Have another more minor feature requests.
Forum sections should only be hidden from the global view. If I hide play by post, it should only be minimized when viewing from index.php, not viewforum.php?f=11.

How about "emoticons" for the trademark and copyright symbols?

Can't you just use the text symbols with superscript?

Plus you should provide a link to the picture you want if you want emoticons.

Besides, just find your computer's character map. As so:
µ¶¢©®§ΠДح♠♣♫

That works for trademark, but not for copyright.

That's a good idea. I''l resort to that from now on.

I think this was requested some time ago, but: Can we get the dice roller to work in PMs?

I think at this point it's time to request another subforum for the M:EM. 11 out of the 22 non-stickied threads in the main M:EM forum (first page) are voting threads, which only really accept input from certain M:EMbers anyway and are pushing works in progress and other business out of the spotlight.

The M:EM Archivist can move all the voting threads to the subforum if it's too much of an issue, but I think our project will be much more approachable if all the non-inclusive voting was taken out of the front page. Please and thank you.

What would you like the new forum to be called? Possibly more questions later, when I'm not phone-posting...

... Let me get back to you on that. I don't have any good name ideas and someone might come up with a good M:EM pun.

If we do not come up with any clever ideas, "M:EM Voting Forum" would probably be a good name.

I think "M:EM Voting and Records" should work, with or without the "Forum" tacked on the end of it.

Do you need us to submit a forum description with that as well?

Sorry for getting back to you so late.

How about "Voting threads and other records for the M:EM Project can be found here."

I'll see what I can do in the morning. (I've probably had a bit too much to be trusted with the admin control panel at the moment; morning will be safer. ;) )

I'll post here once it's done, and you can handle the "cleanup" of moving threads. If you can't do the move, for whatever reason, let me know what to move and I can do that part too.
