I'll ask this here because it makes sense to me.

Is the Play-by-Post section reserved for RPGs or is it for all posting games? I'm specifically thinking of Magic related posting games and general off-topic posting games.

All posting games!

Since we have no idea what kind of stuff is going to happen, we aren't sure how things are going to go traffic wise, and this forum can hold all types of games.

However, any posting games that fit better in a certain forum, such as YMtC contests and the like, are welcome to go in those forums. As the community develops, we may start moving certain games to certain other areas, branching off the posting games into other forums for specific topics and game types, and things like that, as needed.

If you're talking about the voting games people used to run in the Flavor and Storyline forum, I wouldn't mind having them in the A,F&S forum. Don't take that as an official statement, I'd need to discuss it with the rest of the staff if comes up, but if the games are flavorful I wouldn't be against having them in the Art, Flavor and Story board.

Updating the text of the play-by-post descriptions is on the list.

If a game is started in an appropriate forum, there's no real need to move it to the pbp section, and if a game is started in the pbp section, there's no real reason to move it to another forum, either.

That guideline may change as the boards develop, but for now, it should be fine.

The coc should be a guideline for posting, the mods shouldn't be a slave to it. They should be relatable human beings (rather than the stupid dual-account system which basically everyone voted against on the feedback forum so why does that even exist) rather than fun-hating robots

Strongly agree with this chunk.

Check out the relevant thread. No one got infracted or even yelled at, and it was a video of nothing but swear words.

So that means, hypothetically, if I posted a music video in the Music thread that happened to use cuss words it wouldn't be removed?

As long as it isn't gratuitous I don't think it would be a problem, but I guess it would depend on the specific song and also if it is Taylor Swift, who is my Enemy.

And I said..."

There are basically two elements we look at for whether to remove that type of content. First and foremost, it has to be relevant to the topic. The music video is a good example, and even the link in question fits that criteria. The second criteria is more subjective, and it's certainly something that we all have a learning curve on. And that's the piece BunBun mentioned - no Taylor Swift. Er, I mean... no gratuitous, over-the-top swearing.

For example, a 30 minute podcast that's on topic, where the f-bomb drops a few times, and a few other words are sprinkled in? OK.

A 30 minute podcast that's completely off topic, has a few f-bombs, and a few other words? We're going to do something there. My preference would be to split it off to its own topic, assuming that there was a reasonable topic - even if it was, "Hey, check out this podcast!"

A 30 minute podcast - whether on or off topic - that drops the f-bomb and other choice words every 10 seconds? That's getting removed.

How about **** just doesn't get obnoxiously moderated? There's a clear difference between linking to an edgy youtube video and linking to an edgy youporn video, and I'm not sure why the former is an issue. Unless it's something like an incongruous and antagonistic link in a thread devoted to videos of kittens, not many people blindly click on youtube links hoping for the best.

I agree with Jelly he is smart listen to him

Also how about an Art subforum? General art. Non-gaming related. Music, visual art, film, all that stuff can go there.

What you are okay with (and what I, personally, am okay with) is well beyond what is appropriate for this forum. Defining "obnoxiously moderated" is an impossible task, and I think you know it. As much as possible, I don't want moderators to do anything. But having a light touch doesn't mean they don't ever touch anything at all, and we want this forum to be a place people of all types can come to. The sheer fact that we are drawing a line means that people are going to want to cross it. But if you really have something to say, you can do it without crossing that line.

Probably fine just in the rec room.

The worst thing a forum can do is have too many subforums.
