Short answer: Yep! The color is customizable.

Longer answer: Yep, but it may be unnecessary. The plan would actually be to remove it from that location, but still allow for the name to appear at the top left when actually viewing the forum.

Neon green still looks crappy, no matter where it is, really.

Some changes to the doc (pretty minor stuff, overall):

  • fixed the typo in the "please use English only" line in Section 1.
  • Added the location of the servers, and therefore the applicable laws, to Section 3
  • Added a staff list at the end of the document
  • Added a "revisions" table at the end of the document

So I think at this point, all indicated necessary revisions have been applied.

I have full control here, have one of the other mods try to do something in PBP.

Stormy, Ravenclaw, Blitz, or Furt - can one of you reply to this and then go and fiddle with something in pbp? temporarily lock a thread or something. (My account is actually an admin account, so it wouldn't be affected.)

Sapper - can you still do everything you expect down in pbp?

I could fiddle with something in M:EM with the Archivist account if that would help.

Sure. It certainly won't hurt. However, that account is set up differently - the GobO mod accounts are actually assigned to the software's "moderator" group, where the archivist is instead essentially a "super user" type account, in that we cherry-picked the functions possible to that account manually.

But again, it won't hurt to verify I didn't break your setup.

Looks like we've still got our functionality, boss. The only thing I'm noticing is that there's a thing that says [ reported: 1 ] and when I click on that I get an error. I suspect that's maybe functionality I don't have access to, though, and the forum is just showing me the link by accident. Is that right?

Sounds likely. I'll check into it.

That's correct, Keeper; if you have any kind of moderator or admin access, you can see the reported posts link, however, only a member of the global moderator group or someone specifically given access to the reports will be able to access it; unfortunately there is not a preset way to make the link disappear if you don't have access without removing some of your needed functionality, and since it affects half a dozen posters at most, I'm not super interested in tweaking it.

I'm pretty sure I didn't see it in the draft, but why isn't anything about backseat moderating included? You guys have said to leave it to the mod staff to warn/say that something is against the rules, why not include it in the coc?

I've actually gotten one further than Keeper with the Archivist account: on at least two seperate occasions I could see a list of currently unresolved reports (or something along those lines). I didn't click on them because I didn't want to cause some problem with the other moderators (the ones who actually take care of it.

On a side note: while the Archivist account seems to have full options (on its assigned boards) to delete and move posts, I have never used those powers because it has been mentioned numerous times that the actual moderators keep records of all that on a mod-only mirror that the Archivist account has no access to.

D'oh! We talked about adding it in, and then never got it. Gah! Yes, that'll get added.

For the open reports, I'll get to them today or tomorrow for you folks. Probably tomorrow - I'm working on three hours sleep right now...

As for the record keeping - yes, for any mod action we expect that we can reverse course - even if another mod needs to perform the task - by simply restoring the "deleted" posts or re-editing the excised text back into place.

If there's something you need deleted or moved for whatever reason, you can send me a PM and I'll be happy to help you out with that sort of task.

Glad to be of assistance. :P

My apologies; I didn't mean that you needed to take care of open reports, I meant that I saw open reports as the M:EM Archivist, and that probably shouldn't happen. It's hidden somewhere in its moderator control panel, mid that's any help.

The above is a 486 x 60 pixel banner, which is the 'Full Banner' size used in photoshop. Posting it to see how it looks on PC, Mobile and Tablet and to see how obtrusive it is.

On my home computer and it looks fine. Also viewing on my tablet and it looks nice and clear. I like how it's not across the entire post width, though obtrusiveness may boil down to individual banners and color choices.
